is there a way to convert a x/y asteroids to a rgb signal????

some sort of conversion board or something

for test rig dont have any x/y monitors and the one in my asteroids has complete vert colapse

plays blind it but no idea if everything is right since monitor is colapsed

Fix the asteroids monitor. Probably either cold solder joints on the pins for the connectors from the deflection transistors, or bad deflection transistors...

And no, there is no way to convert X/Y signals for an RGB monitor as far as I know. If you plan to bench-test a lot of X/Y boards, it might be best to pick up an o-scope for this purpose. It can be used for more than testing X/Y signals...

ill look into a o scope and thanks agian for the info

I planned on fixing the monitor was hoping I could test the boards with some sort of coverter board but its all good

Yes there is, I read about it a few month ago

But it's not a great pic (as it is raster - so not smooth), and a bit pricey

Very interesting. However, it appears to only be for color vectors, so wouldn't help with the Asteroids the OP is wanting to test...

It would probably be possible to rig a resistor network, to get it going on a BW.

I don't know any one who has bought one.

Maybe someone has one?

Anyone?

yeah I was thinking somethign simular but the price may not be worth it
might be better to have an extra x/y laying around
might be cheaper and clear

Dude, turn the game on, coin it up, and push start. Do you hear the game sounds? Thrust? Fire? Thump thump? Saucers?

was doa when i plugged it in
but yes it did after a resetting the eproms and pulling and resetting edge connector (rusty)

then proceeded to burn up a diode or restister on the audio board next to 6 prong connector

was told it is a bad ground issue causes that to happen so ill fix that issue

plan on replacing connector and cleaning edge did notice liek so many older boards the last pin looks a little burnt not lifted like its been very hot before
most ms pacs i have seen are the same way

but main reason for this thread was this will nto be the last vector game ill need to work on so i thought i woudl ask if there was a way to convert it seems there is with limited list of games

Once you have it playing blind again, we can tackle the monitor issue.

lol it was playign blind while it was burning the resister or diode

either case i know what you mean ill get the ground issue cleared up then go from there

Interesting! I've always wondered if somebody ever tried to make a vector-to-rgb/vga etc adaptor, might open the possibility of building a multi-game cab with both raster and vector PCBs.
