I am working on getting my Tron playing and decided to yank the original PS and install a switcher with an adapter. I am reusing some parts (tranny, line filter) and while I was gutting the old PS and other stuff on the bottom of the cab I removed some stuff I need I think.

I got it all wired up and realized that I cut J6 out of the cab. What does J6 feed?

I wanna get all of the gameplay (monitor and controls) working and then move on to the blacklights so let me know if you can help. I looked at the schematics and best I can tell is 12v going somewhere.

The adapter I am using is this one: http://www.quarterarcade.com/Game.aspx/1962

So I think I know whey I am confused...I think that J6 is for incoming 12v not outgoing. In other words the MCR adapter is supposed to get 12v from the old power brick. Why would it need that if I am feeding the adapter 12v from the switcher? In the chematics is says that the iso tranny is sending 12v and ground through the wiring to J6. I am not getting the 12v led on the MCR adapter to light up so I am assuming that is the problem since I dont have anything plugged into J6.

Anyone get what I am saying and able to confirm that J6 on adapter needs 12v to goto it?

not 100% sure for this, but i think the +12 off the switcher feeds the sound board whereas the other +12 feeds the amp board.

Looking at the schematics ir appears that the 12v for J6 is AC, not DC. It has a slow blow fuse and come directly from the xformer. I yanked that whole mess so now I am without anywhere to hook J6 up to.

Update: My tron is 100% working now....J6 is infact AC. I wired it off of the tranny and the sound jumped right in. I also tried wiring it with 12vdc and the led on the MCR adapter lit up but all I got was buzz. I added the 12VAC and got clean sound. Weird.

I ended up basically stripping out all of the PS guts from the original cab and just using the tranny, xformer, ac distroblocks and ac outlet.

Looks pretty clean in there now, Ill take some pics after its all back together.

nice to hear you finally got it working. so how do you like the switcher setup over the linear setup? i like mine. easy to hook up and WORKS.

I used this adapter: http://www.wizzesworkshop.com/cart/product.asp?intProdID=26

It was easy to hook up if you just swap out the MCR ps but I decided to get all that garbage out of the bottom of the cab so I could get it cleaned up and simplify it for future issues I might have.

Attached is the only pic I have of after the bottom blew out of the cab while going up stairs.
