Friend who runs a laundry mat has a single slot neo geo motherboard that died. (Not a true neo geo cab so no harm, no foul). He wants to put a multicade in it since he has a dual slot neo geo also. Everything works fine, (neo geo harness was suppose to match standard jamma) but we couldn't get it to coin up. I found the coin mechs are a separate plug on the old mother board. Is that right?

Anyone have an easy fix? Don't have any idea how to wire in extra wires to an existing harness and really don't want to rebuild a new harness from scratch. Sorry, I'm a noob at how the wires fit into the harness... plus what's the difference between coin switch, counter and lockout?

coin switch is the switch that is activated by a coin dropping through the coin mechanism there on the coin door. pin 16 on the JAMMA harness

the coin counter is a little black box looking thing near the coin door. runs off of 12v and counts the coins that have been dropped through
it has numbers on it so you can see how many coins have dropped compared to how many games have been played so you can tell if someone is stealing money out of the coin box

the lockout coil frees up stuck coins in the coin mechs. its there right next to coin mech and also runs off of 12v

wires fit into the connector with pins so they easily contact the finger edge of the board nice and tight. a crimper is used to attach the pin to the end of the wire good luck

don't need the counter
don't need the lockout coil but you do need the coin switch if you plan on taking coins or you can set on free play and have even less things to go wrong with your wiring harness

Thanks for the explanation. All of my personal cabs were setup for free play (or even had the coin mechs disconnected) so I'm new to that aspect. So thinking thru, is it possible the ground for the coin is running off of pin 27 which the pandora box thinks is button 6? I'm guessing that is the case. So would the simple solution be to get the "blue elf/pandora to jamma converter from paradise?

You dont need the tilt switch either, just a good lock bar.
also 60 in 1 boards dont use neg 5 volts either i think.. just +5 and +12

60 in 1 will come with a small book, it has the jamma pin out inside.
Check the connector to see if you have a wire running from player one coin up to the coin door and that its hooked up to the coin trigger switch .
