Hi folks,

My plan is to convert a Ms. Pacman cabinet that is not working into a 60 -1 Multigame that will play Ms. Pacman. I have a few issues and I am very new to electrical work and to working on these types of things.

I have the cabinet with all original wiring and fuse block as well as power supply. The original monitor is in the cab as well as the game pcb and connections. It is missing the coin door and control panel, so I purchased a new control panel from Mikes Arcade shop and am now ready to start making this thing work again.

My questions come from the power end of things. I purchased the new switching power supply and Jamma conversion from Bob Roberts, but I have no idea how to get power to it or if I need to use the original fuse block from the ms. pac as well. What I am really looking for is to just have the new 60 in 1 board plugged in to the awall outlet and then to the monitor. The joysticks will come later obviously, but I really want to be a ble to see a picture on teh screen before i get into that. Any help or direction would be appreciated. I've looked on Youtube for a great video documenting the process of hooking one up. but there really isn't anything out there for newbies.

Thanks very much!

If your original monitor and PS work, you could just buy a Jamma-Ms Pac adaptor and plug the multiboard directly to the adaptor, set the dip for CGA and it should hopefully work but you will probably want to either add pushbuttons or double up the start buttons so you can play the other games on the multi.
If you have a nice, new PS, then you will have to wire things from scratch basically, just connect the jamma harness, connect the Ground, 12v and 5v to the appropriate terminals on your PS and wire up your joystick/buttons, connect a new VGA monitor to the 15 pin connector and you're set.
Wiring up a new coin door will be an adventure for you! ;)

i install a new JAMMA wiring harness for a variety of reasons
new board, new wiring, no headaches for a long time i hope

I installed this 60-1 kit yesterday and everything comes up correctly but I can't get my P1 & P2 buttons to select a game or be recognized. I really thought this kit was plug N play but I'm not so sure now. The funny thing is if I set the dip switch up so I can edit the dips in each game then the P1 & P2 buttons will work for this part. Change the dip back to normal and I can't get them to work to save my life. Ugggg

Did you try coining it up? I can't remember if on that board if u need a credit to select a game.

That's the thing. P1 & P2 do noting at all when trying to start a game. I KNOW the board see's the buttons as I can change the dip switch and edit the dips. I'm just wondering if there is a joystick + button combination to use to get started?

I had the same confusion at first with my 60-in-1, and just to confirm what others have said:

If the board is not set for FREE play, you have to coin up the game before the P1 & P2 buttons will work on the game select menu.

Ok, I think this is making more since. I'm guessing I have to first change the dips on the 60-1 board so I can get to all the options, right? And in there I have to set it for free play or add coins that way?

You're getting close. Did you get a manual with your 60 in 1? The info is in there.

To enter setup mode, turn on switch 4 on your 4 position dip switch bank on your icade pcb. Turn on the unit. You will now be in test mode.

Go through your setup menus and get to the screen where you can adjust the system dip switches. Advance to SW2, and advance to the 'Free Play' option. Turn that dip on in the menus.

Power off the unit, change dip 4 back to the 'off' position (which returns the icade to normal mode operation) and turn it back on. You should now be able to use the start 1 and start 2 buttons.

That should fix the problem.

I very well may go home for lunch and try this out, if I can. I do believe this will work!! I'll hit you back in a couple hours when I get back to let you know. Thanks!

Ok, I went home and tried this out and BINGO!! Works like a charm! Just played a game of Galage and my hand is tired now. LOL Thanks for the help guys!!
