Converting a Popeye to a Donkey Kong? And one Audio issue.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to know what kind of investment I will be looking at to convert a popeye to a DK. I guess I am looking at:

DK board
Sideart
Control Panel Overlay
Marquee

Is that about it?

Also the Popeye I am buying has an, "audio issue." I am guessing that it is on the board and will be fixed when I swap them.

So how hard is it to do the conversion?

Thanks!

Audio issues could be the motherboard....or the monitor. The audio signal from the motherboard runs to an amp in the monitor (go figure). Also, Donkey Kong uses a power supply that outputs 5/12/24/-5VDC....Popeys uses a smaller power supply that only outputs 5/24VDC. If your cabinet has the smaller power supply, that'll have to be changed.

So it looks like I pretty big investment. I think I can get the Popeye for $200, plus I am guessing the board will be $100 (where is the best place to buy a board?)

marquee/bezel/CP will be $120 will be another $100,

power supply will be another $50?

I can do that, now the question is how hard is it to rotate the monitor and what Power Supply should I get?

You'll also need to find a DK 3/Jr edge connector harness or add wires to your Popeye Harness. At least the power wires. I've done this at least twice, and the Popeye harnesses never worked with DK or DK Jr as is. Vertical Monitor Mounting kit will run you $45-50 + shipping as well, unless you make your own from L-brackets, angle iron and a shelf bracket.
