converter CRT to LCD monitor

First, that is not considered restoring.
If you convert to LCD, you will not be able to do any gun games.

But to answer your question:
That converter will not convert the signal, it only converts the VGA plug to an arcade style plug.

You need a CGA to VGA converter ~$45:

Also, since it is Nintendo, you will need a color inverter to make the colors correct.
It will also function as an audio amp board:

I already have another playchoice that is a single monitor that has the light gun so I will just keep all the shooting games on that arcade.

Thanks for the links. Looks like I can hook up 2 LCD monitors to that convertor. Would I only need one color invertor board for both monitors?

Yes, only one inverter required.

Playchoice PCB -> Inverter -> CGA to VGA converter -> VGA monitor

CGA to VGA converter will output to two VGA monitors.

Someone else can verify this but the ac looking plugs in the cabinet are 108v, not 120. You don't want to run those to power a different screen other than the ones that these cabinets used.

As far as lcds go the cabinet has 2 19 inch monitors right? I'd get the vision pro monitors if you don't mind spending the extra. I got mine from twisted quarter. They will take cga in although you would still need that converter/amp board.

I put the 19 inch vision pro in my neo geo. I personally like it.

YES, don't plug anything else but Nintendo monitors into the isolation outlet inside the cabinet.

You can get 110V off the huge transformer in the bottom to run to the LCD monitors. That way, they will power on and off with the cabinet's power switch.
That is where I got my power to install an aftermarket USA marquee light.

For installing the LCD monitor in the cab.... did you buy the mounting brackets from somewhere or did you have to make your own?

I didn't do this to my playchoice, I fixed the monitors.

But I have installed LCDs into other cabinets. I was going to buy those LCD wall mounts with an arm, but I've made it work by just finding stuff to hold the LCDs in place for a lot cheaper.

-I've just put the LCD in the monitor hole and put screws around it so it stays in place.
-Used plumbers metal tape attached to the cabinet or wooden monitor surround and then screwed to the monitor's mount holes.

I was decasing the monitors, but found it easier to just leave them together and remove any kind of base/ stand. For any gaps in the paper monitor surround (bezel), I would use some black tag board from Walmart. Or just make a totally new surround (bezel).

I got a couple of Sanyos if you decide to stay with tube monitors.

I'm in Omaha.

What is the difference in spending the extra money for an arcade LCD monitor compared to buying a cheap 19 inch computer monitor?

Commercial grade screen should be better quality. It also supports cga input so you don't need to run a cheap chinese converter to hook it up to a standard arcade game. You would still need the other converter though due to the way nintendo did those setups.
