Started the Conversion tonight.. Pulled one of my Road Blasters in the house.. Had to drill 2 locks:(.. I hate drilling locks, I always break at least 2 bits... Drilled top coin door and front panel.. Didnt have enough bits to drill coin door..

My question is what will I find when I remove the foot pedal? Is there a hole there or just 4 screw holes? What have others done?

Im super excited about the Road Runner, I have been waiting along time for one!! Pics will be coming soon...:D

4 screw holes and one small hole for the wiring to the potentiometer on the pedal.

Cool Thanks.... I have to drill the lower door lock, then I can see down in there.. I wasnt sure if I needed to cover with a plate, but If its just a few screw holes thats awesome!!

Got the Road Runner Kit installed tonight.. Im pretty excited!!! I have only played this game twice since the 80's..

Chris, I will post some pics later today.. Then will prob start a thread in the restorations section...

id say leave the pedal there, you might wanna switch back up to play roadblasters again!

Yea I thought about that, but I have another Road Blasters I keeping.. But I still might leave it incase I get rid of the extra blasters down the road... I will prob keep both.. Im actually looking for a 3rd machine for Peter Packrat..

why bother drilling locks. shove a screw driver between the door and frame and pry it open. takes 1min and does minimal/no damage.

Plus with a system 1, I am pretty sure you can drill the coin lock and reach accross and unlach the control panel. Then you can take off board access lock. Even if you can't do that, shove a screwdriver into the access lock and twist it. 90% of the time they will turn enough to clear the hasp.

Leave the pedal. The wiring hole is pretty big as it has to pass the connector.

Getting started....

I got the kit on KLOV, I think he had 4 or 5 kits for sale.. Bought the nicest kit he had. CP is near perfect, and I got all the manuals and backdoor sheet:)

I will take somemore pictures of the CP tomorrow.. Next I need to restore coin door, metal top vent and metal plate above control panel..

I have not removed the pedal yet.. I have another road blasters so it will prob come off.. I need to find some new black vinyl.. If I can find that I will fill the holes and re vinyl.. Then apply new system 1 sideart:)

anyone know a good sorce for black vinyl???

i hear rich's (this old game) is the best for the sys 1 stuff. just the matte black vinyl. although im sure any matte black vinyl is the same.

Road Runner is one of the greatest platformers ever made. Great gameplay/replay opportunity (invisible paint is introduced very far into the game which changes the dynamic greatly), great sound/music, if the hall effect stick is working well it has really good controls as well considering its frantic pace which does a nice job of replicating the constant chase from the cartoons.

Does anyone have pics of the coin door area? Mine has some holes that I think were from a lock bar, but I'm not 100% sure. I've seen others that have no holes and I think thats how its supposed to be.

Also - I may have posted about this before - but how easy/hard is it to remove the entire bottom panel and replace it? Mine looks like someone took a running start with a hand truck and stood it up on extended legs..both holes for the front legs are completely smashed through.

I redid a Road Blasters not too long ago and the pedal just removes with bolts. You could just remove it, clean the area and even put small carriage bolts in the holes to cover them up if you like. The pedal assembly is fully removable and unplugs from the wiring inside. If you wanted to set it aside in teh box with teh rest of your stuff, it'd be easily done.

What about the huge hole the wires run thru?
