Has anyone converted a vectrex to a stand up arcade? Im considering this!! Vectrex in a fullsize cab running a 19in B/W vector monitor.

I started a thread on this topic a while back, I think it's been tried, but I think I remember hearing something about the hardware not being fast enough to run a full size monitor.

I've considered making an adapter to play it on my Asteroids cabinet, but it may look a little weird since you'd be playing vertically on a horizontal monitor.

I've got two Vectrexes... one that's in good shape and works great, the other that I brought back from the dead that looks like it was stored in a barn for years (dirt, water, dead bugs, etc). I repaired it and cleaned it, but there's only so much I could do, and it's missing its controller, and needs a cap kit badly. This one seems like a perfect candidate for the arcade conversion.

not to mention you would have to somehow reproduce the overlays to fit the larger monitor.

There's a guy in Sacramento who's been trying to sell a fully working Vectrex for ages. I believe he was asking $125 for it last I saw. I suspect many of these will end up in the landfill.

It's not gonna be cool in the way that taking an old Hot Wheels or Matchbox car and making a real car equivalent would be. I personally think it'd end up being more like making a large-sized easy-bake oven.

i had a vectrex for sale of months about a year ago for $100. Never ended up getting offerred more than $50, and that was with 14 games. I ended up giving it away to a friend.

That's a good collection of games. My theory is that, once they became a hot item on the Internet, a lot of them were bought / sold amongst the collector crowd. That "fever" settled down, and nowadays collectors only want complete and immaculate collections, or the really rare pieces they don't have to complete their collections. The multicarts also cut into the original cartridge sales.

If I were to have one in my collection to keep now, it'd have glossy black surfaces, one multicart, maybe a few overlays, and two joysticks. Price fluctuation aside, they are awesome.

I have been trying to sell one for $100 for a while now, and it seems to be unsellable at this point. Not sure what to do with it at this point. I thought about buying a multicart for it, but then I will just have more money into something that I can't get rid of.

The VecMulti is the newest multicart and it takes a microSD card and comes loaded with every game. $100 isn't a bad price for a Vectrex.
The only games I have, besides what's on the multi, is debris revisted and colorclash by revival studios. Sadly, I don't have any overlays at all :(. I do have 2 controllers, luckily! http://www.vectrex.biz/
All I really want is a cover for it and some overlays. Maybe one day I'll make one of those mini-cabs and stick it in there.

They made a good number of these systems and there always seem to be some for sale in varying condition.
