So I'm going to finish up a Control Panel and now realize (after applying the CPO) that the button holes are 1 1/4" instead of 1 1/8". Does anyone know of anyone who might make something, a ring or something, that would work to fix this?

Thanks!

Pardon the confusion, but are you saying you drilled the holes to 1-1/4 so they are too big?

If so, and it is a metal CP, as long as the buttons don't fall through the holes, you can get O rings at any decent hardware store that you can use to slightly increase the diameter of the buttons so they don't slide around in the holes. Just slide the button through the hole and then put the O ring on from the back to fill the gap between the shaft of the button and the side of the hole.

You can also cut a sheet of plexi to go over the CP and drill the correct sized holes in that.

Good suggestions I can see.

Just remember there will be a conciderable amount of fatigue as a result of the hole being too large. A plexi overlay may show cracks propigating over time when folks get excited and bang the buttons now n' then (expect it).

If it's a metal CP, I would be inclined to find a washer with 1.125" ID and reduce the OD to slip in your existing holes. After that run a bead of high strength epoxy such as JB-Weld around to bond it to the CP. Of course, if you didn't put the CPO on, you would want to weld these modified washers in place...

Wood CP, I would insert and glue some plastic pipe with 1.125" ID in place and sand flush.

Hope this helps.

I realize 1 1/16" and 1 1/8 are commonly found but my old Blitz had 1 1/4" drilled and it was fine by tightening the hell out of the locking nuts. I had no issues. And I'll also say I've had OP converted machines that were also 1 1/4". I think the new plexi route is a great option.
