I have a PS2 that I would like to hook up to an older TV, my console has the 3 color cables, and the TV only has inserts for 2 of the colors, the red and the white. Will it work or will I need an adapter of some sort??

Red and White are normally audio connections - not video.

Does your TV have S-Video or Composite Video (usually a yellow color plug)?

There are a few adapters for the PS2 as I recall. I think it shipped with a connector that had composite (yellow) and audio (L&R - white and red).

Have to look at my PS2 to be sure. I was using S-Video and optical digitai audio, though.

You'll need an RF unit instead. Like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/PS3-PS2-PSX-RF-...t=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item35a0ee81a0

Or this universal one from gamestop: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=16656

Basically, it'll let you plug in the PS2 through the cable jack (I would hope the TV isn't so old it's not cable ready :p)

Or I think you can find some kind of adapter at radio shack that'll feed your A/V cable into an RF unit...but the one from gamestop is likely cheaper and easier.

Or, if they have a VCR, it may have the yellow (video) jack. Hook up the VCR through the cable jack, then plug the PS2 into the VCR and make sure you connect to the "input" channel on the VCR to get a signal.

make sure you get a good RF adapter, some of the cheaper ones will make your screen look a little snowy

There are 27 and 32 inch TVs on craigslist for $20 and $30. Upgrade and your picture won't look like its from 1983.

Also, learn this

Yellow - video
Red/White - audio
