Newbee here so please be gentle.

I've determined that the intermitant issues with both my Operation Wolf and Buggy Challenge game are due to bad connections in the slide on style connector (it might be called an edge connector) on the PCB board? I've cleaned up the connections on the board side and done the best I can with the connector with no luck. Is there a secret to firming up the connector socket without trashing the connector? I'm half tempted to hard wire the thing and be done with it.

Ideas?

Thanks

Use a pink eraser on the contacts, blow it off with canned air, spray some contact cleaner on both sides, let dry well before turning back on. I'll let someone else comment about bending contacts...

I've got the board side taken care of. It's the connector that's not seating firmly.

Thanks for the tip with the eraser, that will come in handy.

Probably need to repin it.
What brand of edge connector is it? Any markings on it?

Here is a picture. I'll look for markings later tonight.

I'm pretty sure that looks like a Molex 09-50-6225.
Don't replace the plug (they are no longer made). Just repin it.
The proper pin is Molex 08-03-0304.
To assist in getting the old pins out - use Molex extractor 11-03-0016.
Don't mess with the white key - they're impossible to find anymore.
