If I want to simply test another monitor with my game, can I simply disconnect the monitor in the cab and hook the game up to a second monitor outside the cab without discharging the first monitor? Or should I discharge the first monitor before disconnecting it from the cab?

Be careful to check the power connectors first, though. They don't all fit one another.

Nothing worse than spending a ton of time getting ready to pull a monitor and drop another one in, only to find out that your power plug doesn't mate the connector with the cab's harness.

I built myself a 3-way pigtail for this very reason. It lets me plug into any monitor power plug - 2 position, 3 position, AMP or molex.

You wouldn't happen to have a pic of that would you? I find that's one of the biggest pain in the ass.

I am lucky enough that these three monitors are all the same. But I will keep the power connecter in mind in case I run across a different one.

As promised, here's some info on the connectors I made.

Since I use a power extension cable for testing monitors on location, I made these so I could interface with any monitor, or any cab. They've come in very handy, especially since I can do my work without hacking up someone else's monitor wiring. Also saves me time.

Nice little tools to have in my toolbox.
