OK, so here's the deal. I know how to do this in a variety of ways but I want to do it in a way that will not be an eyesore.

I am rewiring my control panel to accommodate the weird SMASH TV control wiring along with my regular JAMMA control panel wiring.

For the sake of simplicity in describing this, in the CP I need to join together the player 1 control wires coming from the Jamma harness and send them to 1 of 3 9 pin connectors that mates with the player 1 and 2 game controls.

1 of those 9 pin connectors will carry mappings for a standard Jamma game, the other 2 will take the SMASH TV mappings and plug into the player 1 and 2 controls.

Is there a way to wire this up and not have it look like a giant FAIL?

I could run those wires from the jamma connector up and join them with crimped wire nuts in about 5 minutes and from there those would lead to the appropriate 9 pin connectors but that's not very pretty.

I could join those wires together by soldering the ends to a small perf board and have those wires come in, get joined on the PCB via copper pads, and then split out into each of the 3 appropriate places to the 9 pin connectors.

I could have those wires go straight to a 9 pin connector carrying the wires for a standard jamma connection and then daisy chain wires to the other 9 pin connectors coming right out of this one connector but that's nasty looking.

Another way of saying this is that I need to join an input wire and 2 output wires for each of these 9 inputs and have it look nice.

These plugs are going to get plugged in and out so things have to hold up and I'd like it not to be an eyesore.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Keep in mind you SPECIFICALLY asked for thoughts :)

My thought is: it's under the control panel. Only you will see it. Do whatever's practical and don't worry about what it looks like.

How about you do like this, but instead of wire nuts, join and solder the wires together and heat shrink the junction. Will be strong, and not bulky. Commonly done with electronics on boats, looks sharp if done right. Don't forget to put the heat shrink tubing on BEFORE you get to soldering, hehe.

i'd use 9 pin molex's like you have but the cp side style and make a new harness with "Y's" to cover both sets of controls.

So I started by using a small perf board to solder in wires (and diodes to ensure no interference) and after an hour or so of that hassle I scrapped it and just used crimp wire nuts to connect the wires.

Most signals have 1 input and 2 output wires, ground has 1 input and 3 output so using crimp wire nuts was probably the right move.

I'll make it look organized and as neat as possible I suppose.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
