I just acquired a PacMan cabinet. It has been sitting in a barn (read my thread on Barn Find) for 10 years and I have yet to turn it on. I did pull out the board and saw that the 5E and 5F eproms had orange stickers on them so I figured it was a Ms Pacman (machine has a Ms Pac marquee). I cleaned the legs and plugged it into my Ms Pac cabinet. This is what I saw:
I got a chance to see the original owner again and asked him about the machine. He said it had always been a Ms Pac and nothing had been removed from inside the cabinet. I am confused because I thought all conversions had to include a daughterboard plugged into the Z80 socket. This one has no daughterboard and I do not see any screw holes in the cabinet where one had been mounted. Any ideas what I have?
Tonight I will probably pull the eproms and see what I have in there. My goal is to convert it back to PacMan but I would like to figure out what it is supposed to be.
This was the only board the cab. I'm guessing the wires are some sort of repair but maybe this is why it has no daughterboard. It is hard to see but there are wires coming off the legs of the chip marked H5 and the one below it:
