So I bought a logic probe off ebay about a month ago which was supposedly delivered but I never received. I checked the history on it and supposedly the mail carrier left a notice on my door on a Tuesday at 7:30pm but did not leave the package. The package was allegedly delivered at 1pm the following day.

This makes no sense as he should have left the package on Tuesday since it would have been obvious I was at home at that time. Not to mention there wasn't any notices on my door to speak of the next morning. So I called the USPS 800 number and filed a report on this package, nothing was ever done about it.

Fast forward a month later and I purchased a board from a member here. I was given a tracking number and advised the package had been shipped out. Well I was waiting on two other packages around this time so I expected to receive at least one this past Friday or Saturday, nothing came. I come into work on Monday and decide to pull up the tracking info on the package being shipped from the KLOV member to see what the status is. Well apparently this package was delivered on Saturday around the same time I would have been working in my garage with the door open. I never got the package.

I got very upset when I saw this and actually left work at 10am to go to my post office and see what the hell was going on. I asked to file a complaint and was advised I couldn't file one there but the supervisor would speak with the carrier and see what the issue was. The person at the counter even went to the back to see if this package was in the back somewhere, it wasn't.

I wasn't satisfied with this and asked to speak with the supervisor as I wanted something in writing acknowledging that I was filing a formal complaint. Well the supervisor said she couldn't take a complaint and asked that I call the 1-800 number. I then asked to borrow her pencil and wrote down her name while looking at her name tag and confirmed the pronunciation. I advised her that I would be filing a complaint and would have the postal inspector get involved like she had suggested.

Well funny thing happened that evening when I got home. The package that was supposedy delivered on Saturday was sitting on my doorstep.

Moral of the story, anything that is shipped to me from now on will have to be insured. I'll be sure to go out of my way to request this from sellers as the extra $2-$3 are easily worth the piece of mind.

I never really had a problem with usps but I know my mail carrier pretty well but UPS however, sounds like the same song same dance....

I think sometimes with USPS, the carrier will scan it in and then leave the package in their truck until they feel like delivering it. I hate the USPS.

Yes they do that all the time, when I lived in town I could check tracking on a item and it would say delivered at 10:00am or so and I wouldn't get it until later that afternoon

Working from home has it's advantages... that is for sure. One of them is getting to know ones postal carrier. I have a great rapport with my delivery lady. Her name is Kathy and she goes out of her way to take care of me. It also helps if you leave a Christmas card with a $10-$20 gift card for your postal carrier. I also make sure to give our garbage collector a Christmas card... dude does a fantastic job.

do you have a dog, I always have problems with the usps and them not wanting to get out of the truck. and i always get these notes saying the dogs were out. The thing is that I usually get home just about the same time as the mail lady is on my little 20 house road. I have gotten them with the mail truck 2 or 3 houses down, the dogs were not out because I just pulled into the driveway, no one was home, i tracked her down and called B.S. Yada Yada.

This is true, growing up we always had the same carrier and he would stop and shoot the shit with my parents and neighbors. Unfortunately where I am at now it seems like it is a different person everyday and when you try and talk to them they have one hand on the mase.

My parents also have an awesome UPS driver, Mike, he is also the driver for my mom's work and if they aren't home he will try and deliver packages to her at work. I remember once growing up he knew I was expecting a new computer and I wasn't home in the afternoon on the day he came to deliver it so he swung by at the end of his shift to make sure I got it thta evening. Damn I miss Mike.

Yeah, that's part of the problem. Apparently my half of the subdivision is on an auxillary route while the other half has an assigned carrier. According to the supervisor I spoke with on Monday they don't know who the driver will be for any particular day, and there may even be two carriers handling my route on any given day.

I used to have an assigned carrier. She was great, never had an issue before.

I think that happened with the packages I got from arcadeCUP. Both show delivery the same day (odd thing was there is 30 minutes difference between them). From what my PM said he delivered one package one day and then later found the other package (the next day) and delivered it. The second is the one which I didn't receive and I think was picked up by someone putting out fliers on doors.

At least this is my regular carrier and knows who I am and he knows I know who he is as well. :)

Nobody is perfect. I've had people leave fliers on my door as well and to be honest I wouldn't really worry about the people posting fliers. I would be more concerned with the kids that sell stuff door to door.

The people that post fliers are usually in a rush to finish and I wouldn't think they would want to take a chance taking a package, which they might have to carry for blocks in plain sight. Not to mention risking the owner of the house coming to the door while they're taking the package.

Unless you live in apartments I wouldn't really worry about people taking a package from your house. I would be more concerned with it being delivered to the wrong address and the person not returing it or the postal carrier throwing it away.

The more accurate title of this thread would've been:
Confidence lost in all makind.

Face it, most people don't care anymore. Most people don;t take pride in their work. Most people won't shoot the breeze with you and most people won't go out of their way to help you let alone even give you a fake smile.

Ordering anything anymore is a huge hassle.

I remember the days when my dad had a lot of trash that wouldn't fit in the garbage can and he didn't feel like going to the dump so he would leave the big pile of trash next to the can, neatly stacked and bagged but out of the can, with a six pack. Ahh the good ole' days...

This is true. I had a package show as delivered online, but didn't get anything. I went to the post office the next morning and asked about it. They said that sometimes the carrier will scan it in when it goes on the truck, but if they run late or something, they might wait until the next day to drop it off. I got home and there it was.

And I live in an apartment, and often will be home all day, get no knock on the door, then find a delivery slip in my mailbox. Apparently it was too much trouble to walk to the next building and knock on my door.

Lately my problem has been Priority Mail packages with delivery confirmation being left outside my door for me to find when I get home. Luckily I haven't lost anything yet...

I had a $100 set of gears for one of my cars never make it to my house after they were sent from the Ebay seller. The confirmation number never updated. The seller refunded my money and ate the cost unfortunately.

We have hundreds if not thousands of members here in every profession. The often chime in to defend their profession if it gets knocked. Except I've NEVER seen anyone in the USPS own up to say they work there. I'm sure we must have some members as employees there.

Anyhow, I had the same problem. Never had packages delivered and would get the notice to pick up at the post office (which is a major pain to get to, park, wait in line and then get waited on like they are doing you a major favor to get your package). This always got me crazy because my wife is almost always home at the time the mail comes but says said no one ever rings the bell or knocks.

Just recently I was working from home two days in a row. The first day I happened to met the letter carrier and she handed me my mail. The second day, I just happened to meet her again at the door and she handed me my mail. In the batch of mail the second day was a notice of a package that they tried to deliver the previous day (where she also handed me the mail), but no one was there to accept it and I had to go to the post office to pick it up. She didn't even bother carrying to the door the first day, just left it in the truck and filed out a notice for the second day. CAUGHT RED HANDED!

I went to the post office, got a supervisor, showed the hard evidence, pitched a fit, filed a complaint. I was promised a "full investigation" and a return phone call or letter. Never heard squat back about it. But I did mysteriously start getting the door bell rang and packages delivered and no notices (unless my wife really wasn't home).
