Is there a tool that pops these babies on the cords for you? You know, the little black ones like Nintendo used? Keeps the cord from sliding back through the access hole? I tried manually putting one back on when I changed the cord and the bitch won't snap shut. It's like the cord is too big for it, but the cord is the same size as the one it just came off of, so I must just be doing it wrong. Also, does anyone sell these things new?

I have successfully used a bench vise to pre-compress the piece on the cord, then it snaps right in.

Proper tool would be the Heyco Model 0022.. Pretty slick at installing strain reliefs.
If you do lots of these - it's well worth the $65 or so to buy it.
There's a bazillion sizes of strain reliefs as long as you know the hole size and cord type/diameter.

I just use a pair of pliers. Never had one I couldn't take out or put back in yet.

New cords are tough, but just keep applying pressure and they will conform.
