I have an amber monochrome monitor from a Merit dart machine. I am looking for a method to apply a video source to this monitor for testing purposes as the dart machine is a friends who is 40 miles away. Easier to test at the bench than at the machine.

What could be used that would output the composite video that the display is looking for? Not too worried about the sync, just somehow getting a video source to it. Any particular game, signal, etc.

composite video is anything that comes out of a yellow rca plug, usually found hanging out with a red and white plug.

so any vcr, nes, video camera, plug n play tv game, dvd player, should work.

if you snip the connector off you will find a wire with strands of wire surrounding the inner wire. the inner wire is the signal, the outer strands are ground. just twist them together.

my space invaders trimline outputs a composite signal to a black and white tv. I had asked a similar question to yours in this thread long ago, with this pic as the results
attachment.php

I love posting this pic :D
