So my company (NCR) has decided to move to Atlanta. They are giving me a relocation package. They will pay a moving company to transport all my stuff to a new home (From Dayton to Atlanta). I have 20 video games and VERY good condition. I'm a little scared. Not only do I have to go through each game and make sure everything is secure, I'm thinking about pulling all the boards and maybe the monitors.

Anyone care to share any experiences or thoughts? Best way to pack these boards? Should I shrink wrap on my cabs. I'm thinking they would have moving blankets...

Shrink wrap the cabs. I have relocated twice and I let them move me the first time. They dropped my Star Wars. I didn't let them move my games the second time but I only moved 2 hours away...

Remember, most people, no matter what occupation, are usually incompetent and never live up to expectations. Wrap your games like the dumbest most incompetent person is going to be moving them and you will be much happier with the results.

I wouldn't pull the monitors, I think they are safer in the cabs. If you are worried about the boards you can pull them, but I have never had a problem with a board during a move yet and all I have ever done is make sure the boards are secured and anything that can't be secured (like coin boxes) is removed.

I have shipped a couple dozen machines cross country all via NAVL, but NAVL subcontracts these jobs to other shippers so I do have experience with multiple companies...

Shrink wrap them after wrapping them in the uhaul shipping blankets they should be fine. Leave the components in place..after all they were shipped from the factory that way. Just be sure nothing is loose.

You'll like Atlanta..lots of collectors there. You might even be able to get a few to help you unload. Nothing like getting help from people who would treat your games like their own.

Rent a truck and drive them there yourself.

I would blanket wrap, then shrink wrap the games. Someone on here just posted a photo of their impending move with several games in this state. Whereabouts in ATL are you moving? I'm North of Atlanta, in Gainesville. Lotsa good guys and cheap games out this way.

I agree. Have the company foot the bill for a truck with a liftgate. Ask Exidy about moving games, he moved something around 40 from FL to CO.

Looking at John's Creek or south Forsyth county (Like this the best - Low taxes). I am also looking at the Hamilton Mill area as well.

Hey Oldschool84,

Get on the Atlanta collectors e-mail list. Just PM Nocashvalue for the info. When you get here if I can help let me know.

First off don't let Grabel Van Lines touch your stuff! If that is the moving company your outfit is hiring tell them to find another. They moved my stuff half way across the country in 1996 and I am still pissed off about the stuff they fucked up and out right stole. The last time I had a long haul move (here to GA) NAVL was hired and they were fantastic but your mileage may vary. If you do have a moving company move your games, or anything for that matter, then let THEM do all the wrapping\packing\moving and unpacking. Your job is to document as best you can the condition of your belongings before the move so that in the event of any damage you can be compensated. If you can, plan out where the games(and everything else) should go in your new place and then let the movers put things in place. My experience has been that on the receiving side they will try to hurry up so they can get out of there but don't sign off and let them go until you are satisfied that everything is where it needs to be. You are paying them to do it so, relax and enjoy, you are probably not always going to have it this easy.
