I have a 1084S-D2 that works just fine with the composite input. I'm trying to get it wired to a jamma test rig via the db9 connector. I've wired it like this:

Looking at the back of the monitor:

Pin Number

1 N/C
2 Ground
3 Red
4 Green
5 Blue
6 N/C
7 Composite Sync
8 N/C
9 N/C

I only get the red input to work properly. It's synced and looks just fine, but green and blue don't show up. I get dots here and there on the screen in green and blue.

I fed red from the jamma side into green and blue on the 1084 side to see if the problem is on the source side. Looks like I'm getting a valid signal for all three coming out of the jamma side.

I brought the monitor over to a friend's house to test with his Amiga to see if the monitor is okay. Turns out that whatever specific 1084 model he has has a male db9 connector on the back instead of female, so I wasn't able to test it. Is it possible that they changed to gender to indicate a different pinout? I haven't been able to find any pinouts that are different than what is above.

Until I can connect this to an Amiga to test, or find another 1084 to test with my rig, is there anything else you can think to try?

Some of those monitors had a switch to select analog or digital RGB. The Commodore 128 used digital RGB, while the Commodore Amiga computers used analog. Make sure it's in the right mode.

It turns out that since the connector on the back of the monitor is female instead of male, the pinout is mirrored from what is above. Works great now!
