Comments on this DMM?

Fluke 77-3 is a good meter for the price. I've got one that I've been using for the past 4 years. My main meter is a Fluke 83-3 though, been using that one for almost 15 years, had the accuracy and calibration checked 4 months ago, and it's still dead on.

Definately get a fluke, you can even get an old used one and it'll be awesome.

The main problem I had with other ones was as the battery died, the readings got crazy. So you might test a power supply and set it at 5 volts, and then find out after you turn it on that it's really 7 volts or whatever and blow stuff up.

With my older flukes at least, they stay accurate right until the battery dies.

Apparently no longer. What was described above is just inexcusable and their reaction to the complaint is even worse.

I agree with all the "get a fluke" comments, at least the get an older fluke part, I can't speak with any authority on the new ones.

I've got a couple of cheap meters in my tool boxes for route work or just basic tasks, but I have yet to find a good replacement for my Fluke 8060a. It's not auto-range, but it has held up for the last 15 years or so and is still very accurate and easy to use.

+1 for fluke unit.

I have a Fluke 111 that i've used for years and have yet to change the battery in it, it works awesome!!! has auto shut off too if you forget to turn it off (i rarely do but it has saved me atleast once).

I also have a Snap-On meter that i got when i was going to school for auto mechanics. it had some great attachments (for car related stuff mainly), but died after less than 10 uses.... (i gotta track down one of those damn trucks and get it replaced).

Invest in a Fluke meter. Once you own one you will never go back to the cheap china crap.

I own / have owned a Fluke 12, 77, 87 & 189. The 12 is the one I keep in my tool bag and is my daily meter. The 189 (data logging meter) is way over kill for arcade games although it does come in handy for certain things.
