Comet pinball (estate sale)

no I just saw it on craigslist thought I post it up. I haven't played that since 1991 maybe lol. From what I remember it was easy but still fun. Dont know what estate sales sell pins at so I'am probably going in the morning. I like the stool in the photo as well. What would and ok shape Comet be worth? Playfield looks good. This sale has alot of tools and what guy dont like tools. It's in Mesa, Arizona!

I just passed one up for $500 locally because of an agreement with my wife on my purchasing on pins and lots of research on here. I thought it had multiball, but it does not seem to be the case.

It was in my top 5 of pins I can try to buy when they come around, because of previously said agreement, where comet and cyclone shared one of the 5 places.

Still would like to have one though.

Some people say Comet is the best single ball pin ever made. I don't know how true that is but I really enjoy playing mine.

I love my Comet and surprisingly it gets quite a bit of play, even with plenty of other multiball and DMD pins

Hope someone pulled the batteries out or it hasn't been sitting too long with them corroding the board. If you can, open the coin door, turn it off and on quickly a couple of times to reset it and see if it's playable. Or, do nothing and hope that any other potential bidders will think it's totally fubared, and take the chance that all it needs is new batteries.

I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred for that game. The front and head have been repainted pure black with no design and the rest of the cabinet looks really rough, maybe it got wet? The game is booting into audit mode so the batteries are toast and possibly oozing all over the mpu. The playfield is nice though so that is a definite bonus. My experience at estate sales is you never really get a very good deal. People want close to retail for everything because they are trying to pay for the funeral or other debts. Best thing to do is make and offer and when they decline it leave your name so they can call when they are ready to sell for a realistic amount.

If it's an auction it could really go either way. You could get a good deal or you could have a couple of idiots who bid each other into insanity.

I would probably go as high as $400-$450 but I have no idea what the game might be worth in your area. The cabinet is pretty bad but the playfield is really nice and it probably just needs some batteries. Sure there could be MPU corrosion and maybe you could make it play by resetting it quickly but that's the last thing I would be doing. You can be pretty sure that will work given the code on the displays. Suddenly people who were not interested in the non working pinball machine may become interested in the now kind-of-working pinball machine. It's in your best interest for the game to appear as broken as possible.

No way this is game is worth for than $200. The cab is trashed, it probably has board issues, it's comepletly missing art. Fully working and in good shape, this is only a $700 game...

This game is going to be worth what OP is willing to pay for it. If this was a $200 game I would buy it and for the first time in my life would pay to ship a game. Heck I would readily pay $200 -$300 for the playfield and backglass alone.

I guess there is a HUGE difference between my definiton of a trashed cab and yours. The front might have been painted black and there might be some board issues but it's still not too bad and I would easily pay $400 for this.

Let's not forget the incorrect AND mismatched flipper buttons. That's -$100 right there

$200?? The PF would sell for more than that alone.

Bottom line is it is worth what someone is capable of paying for it - end of story. Just because a person buys a game for x amount of money doesn't set a standard. It's mean nothing more than a guideline like pinpedia reports which is what people have been willing to pay. But again it's a guideline only not 1 of the 10 commandments. <-- set in stone joke

It wasn't an auction, I did not go to it though, have no interest in a NON multi- ball game. It was a ways away and been told that these companies that put on the sales ask outrageous prices.
