Anybody ever seen a vender for multi colored wire? As in Blue with white hash marks, or white with yellow hash marks etc...

I've seen lots of various monochrome stuff, but nothing with two colors on the regular market.

I'd like to restore my wireing harness, and would rather do it with the same color codes as the original equipment.

Thanks for any leads!

Hash marked wire might be difficult to find....but you can get striped relatively easily.

I know Bob used to sell the striped stuff in any length you want it. Wasnt to bad in price since he buys in bulk. Might work out if you do not need a ton of it..

Digi-key sells hook up wire in various colors (search for 'hook up wire' on their web site).

McMaster Carr also sells a few different colors.

Mouser has some different ones.

Omega (http://www.omega.com/pptst/HW3000.html) has 16 different colors, but all the stripes are white w/whatever.

I'm not seeing too many different stripe variants and no hashmarked variants. I'm wondering if electrical standards have changed over the years such that these color codings are no longer in general use?

You might be right on that it's an improvement in manufacturing. Although, is there a case where there is a difference between "yellow-white stripe" and "yellow-white hash" in a schematic? Can't say I've seen that, usually just "yellow-white"

Ask Dokert where he gets his wire. Those Williams harnesses use wire colors with stripes.

I talked to him about it, apparently he buys it in bulk from someplace that custom makes it for him.

I wonder if he'd like to point the direction for others to purchase such wire??? Or if it's in minimum 50,000,000' rolls, maybe he'd like to sell a set of wires??? :)

It's a matter of $$$. Striping adds to cost. I haven't seen a manufacturer for hash marks in a bazillion years.
In the past, I've used Allied Wire and Cable (Collegeville, PA). You can pick any base color and upto 3 stripes. But, I have always bought solid colors from them before.

How are their prices? Do they have large minimums?
