Recently got a Taito cabinet with Final Fight on the CPS-1 board (no suicide). The cabinet was for cheap, but of course torn up. Not to mention the electrical wiring was horrible; a switching power supply was used to replace the bad Taito Power Board, but was just simply tied into the service outlet on the cabinet by just shoving stripped wires in the socket. Even the monitor was just tied to those same wires with no ISO, so I feel that has a lot to do with the issue in this picture.

Half the colors are missing, and its not my monitor! I used a different monitor on my Konami cab that I got a month or two ago....it has a pretty picture =P and an ISO!

Anyways I figured since these boards come in sections so they could be used interchangably when need be. So I already had another Final Fight board that was good. I took the Rom board off the bad one (with that 3rd mini top board) and put it on my good one and the colors were good. So the roms are not the issue, nor is that 3rd mini board!
But of course the game functions, I have a feeling that the monitor's live charge could of messed up some of the components on the main board with the JAMMA edge connector. I've inspected the board some, but see no scorch marks.....figures since its working....

Anyone have issues like this before? Or know of where the issue may lye?

If you have already narrowed the problem to the 2nd board, why don't you check A) contacts between 1st and 2nd boards and B) EPROMS.
A faster way might be just to swap the eproms, assuming they are socketed, so you can easily narrow down the problem even more.

Hope it helps.

I edited the image and inverted the colors. See attach. I think it should be something else, the background inverted or not always seems wrong, but sprites are OK. I'd go for eproms/mask roms. or any other chip in the 2nd board.

Good luck,

Right now the problem lies in the main board section (the one with the jamma edge connector). I've already tested all the roms on my good board and they are just fine. The board connectors are fine, the 2nd board is ok, and the 3rd mini processor board is ok. So maybe there is a bad video circuit on the main board causing this. Some sprites are shifting colors, some sprites you can't even see in the blackness. Others look bright at first walking through door ways but when they step into the play field they turn into a dark mix of crap. Your sprite is the only thing that stands out.

Updating this thread because I make sure to finish my logs.

Took this board out to Raymond's (Channelmanic) Repair party this weekend and we've determined there is a bad custom Capcom CPU chip on the A-Board. No repairs we're made and the A-Board was chocked for parts. (z80 was donated to a Neo Geo MV-4F board)

Raymond was nice enough to give me a good A-Board from one of his Street Fighter II's that was just lying around and everything works fine.

The Street Fighter II EPROMs are being recycled for parts and the C-Board will be possibly sold to someone who needs it.
