Monitor color issues

One of my CRT monitors shows a greenish tint on the left side and a strong reddish tint on the right even when the screen should be displaying pure white. The discolorations don't appear to be ghosting of any particular image. I'm thinking this is screen burn, but was wondering if anything else could possibly cause this (maybe color purity?). It has been thoroughly degaussed, so that isn't it.

Any input would be appreciated!

(it is a Nanao MS2930)

How has it been fully degaussed? It does sound like that, screen burn is dull.

My first thought was degaussing issues. Have you manual degaussed it? Try rotating the cabinet 90 degrees and see if it changes.

Posting a picture of the discolored screen will help.

Thanks for the replies.

I degaussed it several times using the built in coil that surrounds the monitor over a period of a few days and a few sessions with an external degauss coil. No difference at all with either.

The thing is, they ARE dull colors, but they are still quite distinguishable as green-ish blue and red. Anything in the red area to the right looks sunburnt and anything on the left looks... jaundiced. The picture is still pretty clear all over (except for the areas that have definite burn, but that is just standard life-bar ghosting that isn't that bad). There is no burn-in visible on the screen with the monitor off.

The discoloration isn't noticeable when the screen is set to display solid colors other than white, but white screen and most all gameplay looks pretty bad.

I'm trying to get a good photo, but anything I can get with the equipment I have just captures a white glow and probably wouldn't help anybody. And now, after having turned everything to get a white screen, I can't get a white glaze to go away, like the brightness is way too high (and the pot does nothing). I'll upload a gameplay picture when I can get this sorted out.

I was wondering because these don't necessarily do it from a cold power on, the degauss that is. And have a momentary push switch to activate it at will!

If waving a magnet about in fast circles near the area doesn't change it then I doubt it is in need of a degauss!

Look close at the flyback. Especially the focus and screen pots. Look for stuff oozing. I had one that was doing the same exact thing. By chance the flyback went out, when I changed it, I examined the old one and noticed the ooze!! new flyback fixed my problem. Not saying that it will fix yours, but it is a place to look.

Thanks for the idea, I will give that a look. Haven't noticed anything yet though. Maybe closer inspection will show something.

Another note, I've noticed that it isn't just visible when white: the black on the left half of the screen looks much lighter/faded and greenish, while toward the right it looks darker and reddish - so this isn't burn-in.

And now I have a crappy photo. The problem amplifies when the screen is shrunk, as I just realized - again not burn. Everything in the "g" areas have a greenish tint to them, "r" has a reddish tint, including the black. When the pots are adjusted to produce a black screen, the black is pure from what I can tell. The problem only materializes when something is on screen.
