I need you guys to walk me through some collective therapy here. There's a game in my region that would be a 'nice to have', but it's basically another resto project.

It's kind of a hike from my house (4 hrs one-way), but I can't clear the cache in my head and move on past it.

The current owner is really leaning on the "pick up only" stance.

I put out an offer to meet said owner in a place between the 2 of us, and even offered up a free lunch at Hooters in the said location. The offer has since been declined.

I feel I have done all I can. Tell me I have, because this is currently like a splinter in my mind.

(this thread is posted more as a plug to make people chuckle than anything else; I have no ill-will toward this individual. I really am surprised though that a fellow KLOVer would pass up a free lunch at a Hooters of all places in the deal - after all, aren't there alot of KLOVers out there who've never even SEEN a hot chick in person before??) :D :D :D

Yeah, what's the game? You can always clean them up, restore a little bit and sell it.
Or maybe trade it for something else!

That's a pain he wouldn't meet you 1/2 way, especially for free lunch. Yeah you could always restore it, but if you just pass I usually just am annoyed for a while and then get over it. x3

If the seller was a he...
Maybe he has a food allergy and Hooters is on his do not eat there list.
Or if you in California those guys are so stubborn about leaving the house.
Low cut skin tight tops or not

All valid points. haha.

I personally would just let it go. If it's not a must have grail that you've been searching a decade for, it just seems to me it's not worth it. Another one will pop up closer eventually.

If its a common game then just let it go. If you know you may never find one again, just bite the bullet and make the trip. Make sure you at least get very detailed pics so you don't waste a trip. To me, if a game I want doesn't require a hotel stay and I know it is hard to locate another I will travel for it. I am a collector though and not a flipper. I don't always make sound investments in this hobby! ;)

As flaky as people are these days, I wouldn't go for that deal either. For all he knows he is going to end up high and dry sitting around in a Hooters parking lot with an arcade game sitting in the back of his truck looking like a jackass when you don't show.

Sure!!! Take HIS side!!! You're just like my WIFE!!!

LOL JK- you are definitely correct, and what you have posted is a totally accurate statement. I had not looked at it from that perspective.

Yeah, and the fact your asking him to go halfway which is still 4 hours there and back. That equates to a lot of gas assuming he's using a truck to transport. Personally a plate of wings is less then 4 hours of gas consumption. Now counter back with a better restaurant plus a movie and just call it a date. :)

You could always Paypal him a deposit. Then tell him if you don't show he can just sell the game to Hooters and keep your money, too. That's win-win!

True, but I never said the guy could only have wings from the menu. AND, whatever he orders is most likely going to be served with a side of nice jugs too. :D

EVERY TIME I've listened to the reasonable angel on my shoulder and passed on a unique desirable machine, I'VE REGRETTED IT.

Just. Go. Now.

Grab a camera, research some interesting restaurants on the route and make a short YouTube video of your adventure. Then come back here and post pics of your haul!

Or, listen to the voice of reason and regret it forever....

Is there another KLOVer nearby that can pick it up for you? Maybe they'll be willing to hold it until you are going out that way?

We do this in Washington and Portland fairly regularly. Hell, if it is in the Hampton Roads area I'll pick it up and bring it to you. Assuming it is still available when I go to Virginia in a couple of months...
