Collecting Genesis & Nintendo - What's your favorite

Ok, most of us played these as kids or young adults. I am collecting Sega genesis 16-bit cartridges and also the regular Nintendo NES cartridges. Why do you ask? because it is what I played most of the time as a teenager and with my kids in my 20's (I am 47 years old) Admit it, you know you played them too. My question is what was your favorite game in each console. Personally i played the heck out of Exitebike for the NES (we all played and love Super Mario Bros. so that doesn't count) and Decap Attack for the Genesis. I have probably 100 of each titles for each system but am always looking for more and games other people loved that I may have not played.

I am sure this will get moved from the general arcade section soon but I am a Sega guy. When the NES came out I was too busy with computers and other things to really be interested. One day I was out with some friends and we stopped by a guy's house who had the Genesis and Sonic, fell in love. Had to have one. Unfortunately Sega screwed me on every add-on and system after the original Genesis.

I have a large collection of both but am starting to think about selling. I loved collecting console systems but they just don't get any play.

Check out the Happy Videogame Nerd on Youtube. It is kind of a spoof on the AVGN, but he only reviews good lesser known games... Like Sweet Home.

Best game ever on the Genesis:

She got so mad, she sold it while I was in class and put the money on my game system:(

Jon

A few of My Genesis favs...

Dungeons & Dragons:Warriors of the Eternal Sun
Sword of Vermillion
The Immortal
Phantasy Star 2, 3, 4
Shining in the Darkness

I remember liking the Valis games and the Revelations-branded shmup ports on Genesis a lot. Alex Kidd and WonderBoy also had one good title each (never understood why Sonic was the mascot for Sega and not Alex Kidd).

For NES some obscure ones would be perhaps Crystalis and Solomon's Key.

(never understood why Sonic was the mascot for Sega and not Alex Kidd).

For a while he sort of was...wasn't his last game released in '90, though? I'd guess that would be why it wasn't really "official."

I used to collect Sega and Nintendo, but then I decided to make room for more Nintendo and sold my Sega games. I kept the consoles and one or two games, but sold the majority.

I have about 282 NES games at the moment. That number has grown stagnant, as games get harder and harder to find in the wild. I hate spending retail on games. Out of all of those I probably spent more than $2 on only a small handful.

I'm around 115 SNES games. This is my favorite system. I love the selection on it, and it always gives me joy seeing the 16-bit graphics.

NES games rules! Some of my personal favorites are:

Little League World Championship Series
Tecmo Bowl
TMNT 2
SMB3
R.C. Pro-Am
DuckTales

I had a Genesis, but never really got into it. Had Sonic for it but that was about it.

the NES TOP LOADER is my fav system of all time!

some of my faves are-

BUBBLE BOBBLE 1 and 2
CONTRA, SUPER C
PUNCH OUT
CASTLEVANIA
MEGA MAN 1,2,3
SNOW BROS
MIGHT FINAL FIGHT
EXCITEBIKE
PANIC RESTRAUNT
GRADIUS
LIFEFORCE
GHOSTS N GOBLINS

Am I the only person that thinks that the NES version of Super C is a far better game than Contra?

Let's not forget about the classics like contra, mega man, zelda, double dragon, and ikari warriors. I use to be into faxanadu and a boy and his blob. I currently own about 400 nes carts. I sold all my genesis.I agree It is hard to find these games now but never stop looking

Some of my faves for Genesis are Contra: Hard Corps, Lightening Force, Gunstar Heroes, Alyssa Dragoon.

Some faves for NES are Ninja Gaiden series, SMB3, Battletoads, Little Nemo, Monopoly, Maniac Mansion, Bad News Baseball, Crystalis.

Any of you Genesis and NES collectors have the flash carts for these systems like the NES Power Pak and the Genesis Everdrive? Just download the games and play them on your console with these carts using a CF card or SD card. It also saves shelf space if you don't mind not having the original carts and boxes and just want to play the games.

I love collecting video games and systems. I have about 500 NES games now.

My favorite for NES? Kirby's Adventure!
