Yeah, I guess I also forgot sticking a straw around the edge of the coin door and jiggling it to flick the coin switch. There's also shuffling your feet on the carpet and zapping the coin door with static electricity.

A few of my games are on freeplay, yet others I just push the service switch. Though on my Zaxxon, my friend came up w/ the idea of rigging a paper clip on one end of the wire to credit the other wire. You can still hear the cool coining sound when it's done!

Well I'm new only got my second working game this week.
But I do like Quarters or tokins would be nice.
I wire a game button to credit the game and mounted it and a volume control on a L bracket just inside the coin door.
I did not want to mess up that little mech from flipping it with my hand. now I guess its not that big of a deal after reading how everyone els does it.

I have all of my games set for quarters. Come on man, it IS an arcade!

I think it takes away from the feel of a classic game if you can just walk up to it and push start. Besides it's fun to act like an OP every once in a while and collect the cash. Makes for an easy way to save money too.

yea, running on tokens would be a nice touch, I have enough problems keeping them all running now, and many have the doors and mechanisms missing or damaged. When I finally get my arcade set up in my garage I think I'll work on converting to tokens, how cool would it be to have custom tokens made up!?

I set mine to free play cos its a fighting game
every once in awle i will use a quater thou just cos i can

My Popeye is set on freplay (cause that's the way the guy left it when he abandoned it at my house long ago - long story)

A buddy of mine abandoned his girlfriend at my house once... she wasn't free play either, or a quarter, now thats a long story...

All of my games are from the 90's or later so they all have freeplay options, so that is what I set them on. Maybe when I get my gameroom together I will set them for quarter play.

If you take out the mechs and make a paper chute that fits in where the mech was, then you can use any coin or token. It works great on my Mortal Kombat II. You can even use pennies.

Speaking of coins...I'm planning on emptying out my TMNT machine here and cashing in the quarters that are in there. Ever since I've finished it (since Jan. 2005) I've been using it as my quarter piggy bank. I figure there's over $200 in there now. I'll probably end up using the cash to buy another game...how ironic

lol

The crazy thing is...the coin tub is only like 1/5 full! I'll bet that thing could hold $1000 in quarters! Kinda gives some retrospect to how much $$$ those 4 player games brought in!

You said it brother! I agree.

I don't set most of my games on freeplay because I enjoy watching/listening to the attract mode as a lot of my games, if I set them on freeplay like my Vs Duck Hunt i don't get shit but a person llool.

I usually leave the door open and flick the switch with my finger. However, I'm trying to improve my 9 years playing ability, so I sometimes lock the door and only give him a quarter or two (teaching him to make the quarter last longer).

Now that Ive got my changer, im in the process of switching the mechs out, I hooked up an external button in the front to the mech inside, and with a quick push, it drops 4 tokens. Now, I ran into one problem. I was using 25mm aka .984 (chuckie cheese size) That size does not fit in certain games, like mario, space invaders, pacman, ect. This now forces me to go with a smaller size token. So if anyone has any 23mm aka .900 mechs thay want to sell or trade for my .984 (+ 500 tokens included) let me know

I have them several different ways. On one i have the coin hooked to the two player button so if i hit it once its a one player game. if i hit it twice it starts a two player game.

Ditto. I have a small box of quarters near my machine (which I am in the process of getting to actually work).
