I recently bought 2 replacement over/under coin door for my tmnt project and all 4 bulbs are burned out [I took a good one from my commando and test all 4 sockets].

this is what I have where do I buy replacement, bobs?

thank you.

The type is called a wedge socket. We use 161 bulbs for 12v, 555 bulbs for 6v. Most coin doors get 12v on video games.

You should be able to get those from anywhere that deals in arcade parts.

I think you will actually need the 555's - any coin control over / under door I have ever worked with takes the 555's.

The 194's quoted above work in midway doors with the 25cent translucent signs in them (like ms. pac)

Get a voltmeter and measure the coin door lamp socket voltage on the machine in question. It will either be 6 volts or 12 volts. That will determine which lamps to buy.

If 12 volt, get either #161 or #194 which are available at any auto parts store (automobile dashboards typically use these).

If 6 volt, get either # 555, # 159, or # 259 from an online supplier. Pinball lamp suppliers are the cheapest like Pinball Life.

Sorry guys to drag this one up again...

Just wondered where i may be able to get hold of 10-12 of the sockets shown above? Someone has nicely removed them from a machine i'm rebuilding, and mine are identical, however i cant seem to find them anywhere!

Any pointers at all please?

Cheers
Paul

If you have a Coin Controls door, then the socket previously linked in this thread is the correct one.

ahh it's not for a coin door though. It's for a pinball machine, manufactured by a spanish company in the late 90's. They no longer exist, and therefore parts are really unobtainium....

Here's a pic of the original i have... Some smart so and so decided to snip a load off, so all the mounts are there, however 10-15 of the sockets are missing :( I'm just trying to refit with as close to the original i can get...
Some are mounted in holes in the playfield which are mm wider than the sockets themselves, hence trying to get the same....

Then perhaps you should join the forums at pinside.com where all the pinball folks hang out. I'm sure someone there has run into the same problem and found a solution.

The reason, Ken, was because i have several members on my pinball forum that suggested these were seen on some VG's and suggested i try here - and when I saw the original posting, it was exactly what i was looking for.

Apologies for asking!

Posting incase anyone searches this in the future looking for the correct bulbs. kkcloak confirmed and I also verified on the wiring schematic that the TMNT machine coin doors (coin controls) used the 5volt 555 bulbs.

I use frosted red 555's in all of my games that have wedges, and 44/47's for the twist/push type, which I got from pinballbulbs below. I think they look great, and I did a side by side with incandescent bulbs, and could not tell the difference. And I love the red glow when you open the coin door. All of my Atari cabs, MKII, Gyruss, Dragon's Lair, have them. Just not my Pac cab, as those are higher voltage.

The reds work great, but if you have orange inserts, you should go with the white or orange.
