I hammered the coin door straight, sanded it and repainted the coin door. It is super smooth, straight and nice.

But I think I have the wrong lock for it and it doesn't close properly.

If you notice from the pictures, there is a gap between the door, and the lock-turn-thing. It flutters about a quarter inch.

Now since I happen to own a robotron, I checked out the same coin door and notice that the lock on that machine, appears to be shorter than my pinball lock. I think this is the descrepancy in the 1/4 inch. I assume, that it means that in the life of the pinball machine, someone has replaced the lock, and they replaced it with the wrong type.

I was thinking I could find a nut about the right distance, and expoxy it onto the lock-turn-thing and that would fill in the gap

What do you think I should do?

You have a 7/8" long lock on there. You probably need a 5/8" long lock.

Or you could buy an "offset" cam that has a 1/4" bend in it to use on your existing lock to take up the correct space.

As always, Ken is correct. If you don't have a parts order out, goto Home depot and get the cam with a 1/4" bend.

I use all regular 7/8s locks and on a lot of doors, especially 90s Williams/Bally; I bend the cams toward the door to get it snug with no play in between.

The cam should be fine lengthwise. It might not be as secure as a longer one, but should catch just fine. I've never had a problem with them.
