I have a coin door for a Crystal Castles cocktail that needs some cleaning. I'm not sure if this has a clear coat on it or if it's just straight brushed metal.

I was wondering if you guys had any tips for giving this thing a good spit shine.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Disassemble, and clean with Hot water and soap. Might try a Magic Eraser too.

It's a bit beyond that stage. I tried your suggestions anyway, but it's pretty heavily oxidized.

I was never big on the metal look of it anyway. I was thinking of getting it powder coated black.

If it appears to be a clear, it might be anodized. There's a strong chemical solution that will strip that off.

First check and ensure it's really stainless by making sure it's not magnetic. If it's zinc plated mild steel, a magnet will stick to it and you can't clean it as aggressively as I'm going to recommend:

Totally disassemble it so you're only working on the stainless plate itself, then scrub it with some 0000 steel wool that's been wetted with Goof Off (not Goo Gone).

Be sure to scrub only in the direction of the grain patten that's already on there, otherwise it won't look right.

When you're all done and satisfied with the results, reassemble and you're done.

Post a follow-up pic here and show everyone the finished product!

I appreciate the tips, but I decided to get it powder coated black. We get a lot of parts powder coated here at work, so it won't cost me but a couple of bucks.

There was always something that bugged me about the look of raw metal in that particular cabinet. It looked a little late 70s.

Thanks again.
