I have a sitdown Asian cabinet, probably Chinese made but suprrisingly good build overall. You can plug any JAMMA game into it and it converts the singnal just fine to the LCD. It uses a top-entry coin system typical of these cabinet but I have been experiencing a bit of difficultly in getting it to accept my tokens, which are copper-zinc alloy, .984.
The coin comparitor inside is a Model CL-960, different than what Happ carries on their website. No brand name I can find otherwise. I have tried everything I can think of - yes I put my token in the slider, I set the size to 25mm, I've tried it on Normal or Sensitive, Long, Common, Short pulse, etc. It only recognizes the coins dropping through maybe once every 20 drops. I did get it so they will drop into the cash box which it wasn't doing at first, but they still aren't being recognized by the switch or whatever it is inside. That however only happens when the coin cover is up - if I close it for normal operation, the coin either gets jammed or it goes straight to the coin return. I can't see a difference in anything for it to act differently when the coin door is closed instead of open. But until I can figure out how to make it work in the first place, that is only secondary.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, this is the first comparitor I've dealt with and I can tell why they aren't really favored as it's such a hassle compared to the trusty switch mechs. I would convert it over if I could find the parts to do so - I would get this: http://happcontrols.com/cc/40035090.htm but I don't know if that would actually work with this cabinet or now and I don't want to spend $50 just to experiment.
