His first mistake was spending $1k on a TMNT, but I hope he does well.

Whoa this is awesome news.

I was bummed when I heard that the Amsterdam Museum was not happening. I'm glad there will be some place around here to go to play some games.

I know that building well. Back in the 90's a few bands I was in recorded in the studio that was in that building.

I'd imagine it's more of a metaphorical "thousand bucks" than a literal $1,000.00, cut the kid some slack. ;)

Anyone trying to keep the arcade dream alive is okay in my book, but a coffee house with an arcade seems like kind of a weird juxtaposition. I go to a cafe when I want to read a paper or report in a peaceful, laid-back setting, and I go to an arcade when I want to be a hooligan. I guess this seems kind of like a rodeo with a china shop to me.

This is also in an area where TONS of college kids live and hang out.
Lots of foot traffic.

I don't even drink coffee so I would just be going in for the games.

correct me if im wrong but isnt hudson ave. the houses for frats/sororitys. Last time I was there the place was a zoo on a weekend night.. Unless this is a different area?

This is quite cool. I have actually considered something similar here in Ann Arbor. Vintage games are having a bit of a resurgence and this could work in a college town if it is located in the right place. Unfortunately we have about 20+ coffee shops and one arcade with about 100+ machines, so a bit tough, but you never know.

I certainly wish him the best. Somebody please help this guy get some games at reasonable prices so he can help keep the lifestyle going for the Albany peeps.

its all about location. Look at chinatown fair, that place is hoppin. I dont think theres any classics there but with the crowd it draws for the newer stuff its amazing. I would love to open a place like that. Theres a store here that sells paintball stuff/ trading card/ video games and board games. They hold card tournaments and board games all the time, if they had machines in there, it would make a killing.. Theres some places that can pull it off, and some that cant. You need more than just games. and Location.

What bands were you in and what do you play?
