Cocktail table conversion
Hi all I have a cocktail table and I would like to convert it to a muliti game table,
I have now got hold of a icade PCB , 60 games in 1, a new power supply, 2X8 way joysticks, 6 new buttons and a jamma wiring harness.
I have a few questions
The jamma harness don't have any wires on the -5v...do I need to add them both on the jamma harness to go to the -5 on the new power supply unit.
I'm going to use the old CRT screen in the table... do I rewire the table to use power from the new power supply or do I leave it power by the old supply,
Any help please

i have got most of it working after reading around,
but now got a prob,

it all up and working but the pic keep rolling slowly and half of the pic seem to have droped to one side,
i have found some knobs on the crt PCB, they are marked from left to right.

1 SCREEN a knob,
2 BKG-b,
3 BKG-g,
4 BKG-r,
5 V HIGHT a knob,
6 V HOLD a knob,
7 BRIGHT a knob,
8 H HOLD a knob,
9 B.GAIN
10 G.GAIN
11 R.GAIN

anyone know what these do as i have used the ones with knobs on to slow it down the best i can.

wow did you wire up monitor? did you end up using the existing connector and splice the jamma harness wires into it?

some pics would help.

i put a jamma harness in took out the old, put a new power supply in and a new 60 in 1 PCB and powerd it from new supply, left the old power supply it to power the old PCB for the CRT

ps cam not working at mo

here are a few pic's any help please

Well, I would have rebuilt that Toei monitor while in there. Looks like you don't have the sync hooked up properly....

yer i will rebuild the monitor and PCB later, this is my 1st fix to try and get it all working,
and yer do seem a sync prob, i have been told by a member that it may need a 2nd sync wire on somewere just trying to find out were it may go.

a few pic's of montor PCB and plug, as you see 5 pin plug, and 6 pins on PCB, do you have to link the spare pin to the other sync wire?
anyone know

thanks lee

You may need to move that white wire to the empty pin (not jumpered). You can cut the connector between the white and blue so you can move it over to that last pin. According to the manual, one pin is Positive and the other is Negative, and the JAMMA board is negative...

hi thanks for that, the table had 2 PCB boards installed and running PHOENIX, and i did think it was negative sync, do anyone know for sure if it was positive or negative? for the phoenix,

also if i put that wire on the other pin it will not blow my PCB will it

i just did that in the end as i found other information to, but i get a worse pic just white lines rolling from left to right, so it seem the only thing left to try is to link, jumper the last to pins, if any one know any diff please post me a note.

well jumped the last 2 pins and still no good,

i have spent 4 days on this this time, and about 2 weeks in total and now it look like im going to bin it, as no one seem to know about converting cocktail tables.

this started of to be fun so why do i feel so....................maybe all the time and money about £800 so far

Converting cocktail tables is easy - when you have good stuff to work from. That Toei monitor is not the best thing to use, as there is poor documentation for it. Also, your issue could be caused by the fact that it hasn't been rebuilt yet.

If you changed it to a more popular monitor like a Wells-Gardner, it would be a lot easier to work with....

I'm assuming you tried adjusting the hold pots after each attempt?

BTW - I can't tell from your pic, but you don't have dip switch #2 on the PCB turned on, do you? If so, turn it off...

You may want to check your dipswitches, you may be running the wrong sync rate. It should be on 15K

yer thanks its on 15K also had tried 31K

that may have been my next step to use a diff monitor
