I'm getting ready to stain a new cocktail cab (cut by OU Flight, Classic Arcade Works)
Need paint suggestions for the top. Should I use a rattle can and use ultra flat black? or a satin black? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Will that black be completely covered by art or will tinted glass go over it? I assume the wide t-molding will go around the edges?

Wide T-molding around the edges. MS. pac screened glass for the top. It"s the underside that will show.

example of an underside cocktail top. Satin or flat?

It looks kinda flat, but I think to get that look, spray a couple of thin coats of satin directly on the sanded wood, no primer. Might test that on a piece of scrap to see if the look matches the original.

+1 on satin and a couple coats on bare wood, turns out great as long as you aren't trying to paint a full sized cab. Make sure it is smooth and free of dust and paint outside somewhere where no crap will be blown into your fresh paint. Even if you get a blemish or two at least it will almost never be seen.
