I have a friend who was given a non working Cockpit Pole Position.
What is the approximate value of a working Cockpit Pole Position?
He wants to know if it is worth fixing.
He was told by a tech that he can get it working for about $200-$300.
I figured that would be close to the value depending on the shape of the cab.
I haven't seen it so I don't know it's shape.
Ballpark figures in various conditions would be appreciated.

It would be hard for me to estimate the market value. Maybe $400 or so for a nice working one??? Kind of a guess. But what I will say is it's a great game to have in cockpit form, so I say don't worry about what it can be sold for, and instead get it working and enjoy the heck out of it. :)

Thanks ShanMan,all I was looking for was a ballpark figure.
I figured that was about the value in nice shape.
He is most likely going to get rid of it since he bought a motorcycle and needs the room for that.
I have absolutely no room for a cockpit.:(
If someone is interested let me know and I can put you in touch with the owner.

would be cool to have. Not that I really have the room for one.

I had and sold a cockpit Pole II conversion about 6-7 years ago. VERY nice cabinet, fully working, and I got $400 for it.

Just keep in mind that these cockpits do NOT come apart into two pieces like it may seem. It is a one-piece cabinet, unless you cut it apart. :)

Which is what I did... I cut a square into the floor of the cab and then cut it in half that way. I then put a set of leg levelers on each half, right at the cut, so it keeps it solid in the middle. Cut out a square to put into the floor and then recovered it with new rubber floor matting. When together, you could never tell that it was cut to be two pieces. Pull up the rubber floor, unscrew the wood panel, disconnect the audio wires (which I fitted with Molex's) and unscrew the metal braces in the bottom, and it was back to being two pieces.

Price ranges for today, I've seen dead ones going for $200 and working ones for $350.

I find it strange that I couldn't GIVE AWAY a non-working Pole Position upright (that's right... I offered FOR FREE the upright to multiple people (including our very own Shanman if I do remember correctly) yet a non-working cockpit is worth $400?

If it makes you feel any better, I got my PP cockpit for free. IMO there is no comparison between the cockpit and the upright. The cockpit is one of my favorite machines. The upright is merely utilitarian and there are thousands of them sitting around doing nothing.

Non working -- Worthless ... I was offered a couple of PP cockpits for free in late 2008, but I didn't have the room. They were parted and junked.

Working $250 - $400 depending on condition and whether you're lucky enough to find someone local that still has room for more games ;).
