CNC Routed Space Invader ceiling tiles...

I wanted to toss this in. I saw the original picture (sorry I'm late to this thread) and thought of something. I worked in an old nite club for a few years, and one thing that was interesting about it was the ceiling. The story goes (so I am told, either that or they were just crazy) that back in the 70s and early 80s, they had a disco floor. Later they moved the floor to the ceiling and added a control device for the lights. A ceiling like that might be cool for these ceiling pieces that you made. The only good picture of this is with the house lights on but you can see the ceiling this way too.

What is the price for the whole set again? I don't care about color as long as there's enough material left.

Hello :) $1 per invader plus exact shipping costs, no order is too small or large. I pretty much have an abundant supply of material but out of the material I pulled already I have probably hit my limit for this Saturdays run. While the machine is running Saturday I will be going through all the material from dead jobs to do another run, even if nobody wants anymore I still need to finish my own basement :) I will pull all the good material that has no scratches or dents and post another list of available colors. They should all be similar to what I already listed but I might find a few weird ones here and there, I remember doing a neon green canopy and an orange building a long time ago. I am still wondering where that McDonalds (pac man) yellow went but it has to be somewhere...we had a ton of it!

Hello :)
I was able to cut 90% of these last night, it was fun but at the same time it started to remind me of the video game...wave after wave of invaders coming with no end in sight - lol. The large majority of them should ship very soon with the exception of any orders including various silver metallic. The material I set aside for the Silver Invaders ended up being unsatisfactory and had a lot of dents and scratches. Silver is a very common color we use and I definitely have more but I will need to take a little time to find it since it is mixed in with all the other colors and the sorting process can be a little time consuming. I will hopefully be cutting the Silver ones Monday and my goal is to have ALL current orders shipped by Wednesday. I am officially out of Brushed Aluminium and various bronze colors for the time being. I might have something lying around but until I find it I unfortunately can't make any more of those colors. The Brushed Aluminium was a close one. I had EXACTLY enough to fill requests, seriously, down to the very last Invader which was a very strange coincidence. I had a small issue when cutting the eyes. The remaining material cut from the eyes would fly out of the machine after being cut causing the machine to jam and be knocked out of square. I forgot about this problem since it happened when I was cutting mine also. The way I was able to stop this was by adding a small tab (0.010) to hold the square piece of material in place after it was cut. The only downside is this leaves a very small tab in the eye sockets. Not a huge deal and a lot of people might not even notice it or care about it but it is worth mentioning. If it does really bother anyone a small file would take care of it with very minimum effort. Overall I have been having a blast doing this, kind of fun to pretend I am running my own little business:)
Thanks again for everything guys and I will continue to post any updates as they happen:)

Could we have a link to the original photo please? I might place an order if you start taking them again.

Hey everybody! Thanks again for everything, so far this has been a lot of fun! I ended up getting a LOT more orders than I expected, close to 400 invaders!! SWEET!! At around 5 min per unit that is about 2000 minutes (or 33+ hours) I have been trying like hell to squeeze that in to my 80 hour work week. It's been challenging, I'm not complaing at all, I love it! Unfortunately though it has pushed my ship date back a few days. With the post office being closed and 2 angry bosses that want me to work even more (end of the year thing I guess) I will have to ship these out Monday morning. Currently I have 100% cut, 70% cleaned and about 50% packaged and ready to go. I really underestimated the cleaning time, kind of forgot how time consuming it is but oh well, live and learn and I will plan accordingly for next time. I want everyone to know I am taking this very seriously and it is a top priority to make everyone happy so please, contact me if there are any problems. I am an easy going guy and will understand if there are any issues with the slight delay or any other questions/concerns just let me know :) I really do apoligize for the slowdown but I am very close and have been assured I will have Monday morning off from work so everything is looking good. Thanks again everyone, and for those that have asked for new orders I will glady make another run and continue to run them until every KLOV member who wants them gets them. I hope everyone will understand that I want to complete this first round before I take any new orders. The price will remain the same indefinetily ($1 per invader) at least until my boss asks for a cut :) just kidding, he is totally fine with me doing this. Thanks! - Brian

1: Will you ship to Canada?

2: I see the brushed aluminum is sold out. Will there be more?

3: Do you have a shiny smooth metallic silver that would go good with the brushed aluminum?

If yes to all 3, how much for 10(5 of each invader per color) of each (When available) shipped? Postal code here is L9R 1P1 or closest city is Barrie (Or Toronto if that doesn't come up, not sure how you get rates via USPS, it differs with Canada Post)

I asked here instead of a PM, so your answers (At least the first 3 direct ones) may be seen by all.

Hello, thank you for the interest!
1 - I don't have a problem shipping to Canada, not sure what it will cost at the moment but I generally have just done a generic shipping qoute then I will refund any extra after I ship so you will pay EXACT shipping charges
2 - As of right now I have no brushed aluminium. I will look for more but it is a seldom used color in our shop so I'm not getting my hopes up. It's a shame since it is a very requested color. I do have quite a few metallic and metal flake colors and will post a full list (with pics) after the first run is 100% finished
3 - each invader is $1, I'll check on shipping rates to Canada when I deliver the first run. I can have them weigh a similar order and give me a quote so then I can just give a generic Canada rate to anyone who wants them over there. Hope this helps and thank you! - Brian

Thanks for all the hard work on these Brian. I know I am excited to receive them, and I am sure everyone else is as well. I don't mind a few days delay as you really hooked these up for all of us and it sounds like the demand was pretty extreme. Happy Holidays and thanks again for taking them on!

Space invaders

hey bro i will get in on the second order for sure.....Missed the first order due to a million other projects..Plan on having to charge double or triple shipping for canada orders btw,,, been there done that.

Okay, was able to ship almost all of the orders today, all of the following orders are in the mail (priority) and should reach your houses within 3-4 days...
CABS4PIMPS
PHET
DP LOUIE
BARRYS FARM
SPARTY MAC
ORYK ZINYO
WVHYPERBOY
MALICE95
NEPHASTH
ZEN
AESOP

Now the bad news :( 5 orders are going to have to ship on Wednesday for 2 reasons. The first reason is a problem with the silver material. I can blame it on "forgetting a zero" or "should have carried the 1" or just plain stupidity on my part but some how I ended up with a bunch of WHITE colored invaders that were supposed to be SILVER. The second reason a few orders are delayed is the last few orders I recieved I forgot to ad to my cutting list. The material has been set asside and I will be cutting and packaging it for you guys tomorrow morning. THIS IS MY TOP PRIORITY! This was my fault and I apologize for this guys. This was a learning experience for me and I definetily made some mistakes. Hopefully nobody is too mad, I am giving this 100% and ultimately just want everyone to be happy :) The following orders will ship on Wednesday...
WIZ
KRAKERJAC
SILVERCOIN
QUARTRARCADE
TONYH

*A few things about the Invaders....
1 - When you get these they will have a peelcoat protecter on them. This comes on the material from the factory, I debated removing it but decided to leave it on to protect them during shipping from scratches (CNC routed edges can be sharp) It just peels right off.

2 - I mentioned this before but there will be 3 small tab marks on the edges. They are small (0.010) but were placed there to stop the eye pieces from flying out and jamming the machine (that way I could run it at a decent pace without babysitting the entire run) 2 of the tabs will be located in the eye sockets and one will be on the outer edge somewhere (randomly placed by the computer) some people might not notice them or care but for those that do they are easily removed with a small file or a wizard/dremmal type tool.

3 - The cleaning process for these took quite a bit of time. Our machines are meant to make rather large parts for buildings (usually 8' to 15' long) so the bits I used had to be compensated for that which meant a LOT of chips were left behind stuck to the invaders. I gave them all a pretty good cleaning but you might want to give them a quick once over when you recieve them to make sure no random composite chips are stuck to the sides. These can typically be rubbed off with a gloved hand (errr, that sounds bad - lol) but a small file or piece of sandpaper can do the trick also. I actually started having dreams I was cleaning these I spent so much time doing it - lol.

4 - Just a heads up also. I made some of these for my Cousin and I noticed he had the majority of them hung upside down! - lol. They do still look like a space Invader when they are upside down I guess but maybe before you hang them, make sure they are the right direction. I am pretty sure nobody here will make that mistake but after seeing my cousins house I figured I better mention it.

Other than a few snags here and there everything went great! I am definetily interested in making more of these for anybody that wants them. I am going to go through the material again and see what I have available and should be posting a little later this week all the information on the second run. I will also post some closer pics of them for those who requested, sorry I haven't done that yet. Anything else I may have forgot or anything at all don't hesitate to PM me. Thanks again everyone, you have no idea how much I appreciate this, it has really been amazing having this kind of response. Thank you! - Brian

Thanks for doing that Brian, looking forward to getting them, I would love some PAC themed ones too if you ever get to doing those...!

Yea I could go for pac as well..

Maybe a yellow Pac-man, bunch of yellow dots, and 4 ghosts in random solid colors.

Could you do that? What would that run?

Hey, did you end up having enough of the possibly blacklight reactive color we talked about? Is there any way you could confirm they show up under one? I'm putting the finishing blacklight touches in now and would really like them if so :) thanks!
