Hello :)
I made these at work on my CNC machines for my home arcade. I am testing them out in this small corner of the arcade to see how well they hold but it's been a few weeks and they are still there..so far so good. They are made of composite aluminium and come pre painted (color depends on what building I am making at the time since I use the scrap to make them) I thought they turned out pretty good. The light box is also composite aluminium with an arcade marquee (x-men) rivited in and placed over the ceiling lights to illuminate it. What do you guys think?
Thanks! - Brian

*edit - I have had a few inquires to purchase these which is nice since my Wife told me they were ugly - lol, what does she know right? If anyone was interested in a few or whatever does $1 each plus EXACT shipping sound good? I would give a discount for large quanities also if anyone wanted that. The material is crazy expensive, like $600-$1000 per sheet but I get it for free if I use the left over scrap, the only problem is I am limited to what color the building is we are working on but we have a TON of the stuff lying around right now in many different colors so if I get some hits I'll make a list/etc.. I don't know the exact dimensions off hand but I think they were a little under 1 foot both ways, I'll check after work tonight. The material is a black composite core with professionally painted aluminum (many different colors available)on one side and sandable primered aluminium on the other side, let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks for all the nice comments! - Brian

*new edit - Thanks again everyone for all the positive comments. It is really cool hearing people say they like something you made. For everyone that has expressed some interest in picking some up for there own gameroom I will update soon with what colors I have available. My boss is pretty cool and usually supports us having a little fun so I should be able to get rolling on this Saturday. I also want to say I'm not concerned with getting rich here so no order is too small, I sold one guy 2 of them and thats fine with me. I am just excited that people like them and I am more than happy to make them for you guys. Will update soon, Thanks - Brian

*edit for color list...
Okay guys, this is kind of a generic message I sent to eveyone who expressed interest. I have been doing a flat rate shipping of $8 for smaller orders (under 10) and $15 for larger orders. Afetr they have shipped I will refund any extra shipping money left over so you will pay EXACT shipping charges. I should be able to cut them for eveyone who has paid this Saturday. I have never really done something like this so if I forgot to PM you just send me another one. Also if possible put your screen name from here on the paypal message since a few guys have ordered the same quanities, just want to make sure I get everyones colors right. Here is a color list, the amount of each color I have is limited to what scrap I have left over from dead jobs. I seem to have a decent amount of most of this but will eventually run out of some colors and will not be able to get anymore until we do another job of that color. Since I do not have an exact idea of how much material I have of each color I guess the only fair thing would be whoever sends payment first will get first pick in order of payments recieved. These are also primered on one side and ready for paint if you choose to use your own custom color and paint it yourself. I have never painted them but my co worker has painted other stuff we have made and has had very good results. I am not a paint guy though so I can't help much on that end :) I might find more colors this weekend since I am going to look around a little more, just as long as payment is sent and you don't mind waiting a little longer you would be able to get first pick on any new colors I find, but I really have no idea what we have (if any) other colors so I can't gaurantee I'll find anything but I will try :) Let me know if you have any questions, I am more than happy to help in any way possible. Thanks again! - Brian
*These are all ready to cut this saturday :)
Peru Bronze (more of a darker Brown)
Standard Red (running low on this but have enough for a few larger orders)
White
Dark Blue
* temp sold out - Brushed Aluminum (cool aluminum color with brushed grain elements, also limited)
Optical Platinum Titanium (very limited)
Various Metallic Silvers (they vary in color but all orders will match so they don't look out of place next to each other)
Pewter
*temp sold out - Various Bronze (they also range in color, I don't have a lot of this stuff right now that is all the same color but I should be able to accomodate a few orders)
Solid Black (this is a thinner stock material and would only look good as a stand alone all black order, I don' think it would look right next to the other colors due to the thinner stock, but if you are okay with it being thinner I can mix/match it)

*edit for color info
Also, for anybody else that wants sort of an idea of the colors, a lot of the material we use is from a place called alpolic
http://www.alpolic-usa.com/pages/products/color-samples.php
They have a color sample section that has a basic idea but so many of the colors slightly vary/etc so if you have any questions I can look up the exact codes of what I have over the next few days. We also use composite from 2 other places called Reynobond and Alucobond but all the colors are pretty similar from all the different companies. Oh, many of the Metallics I have are custom colors made just for certain jobs but they are all shades of Silver/Bronze/etc.. and most only have small differences from the stock colors. Thanks guys! - Brian

Those are completely kick ass, Brian. Is there any chance that you can make them to sell to others?
Thanks!
...and yes if somebody wanted some I could definetily make more for them. The problem is I don't really have a good mounting system. I am currently using industrial double stick tape that is used for metal products. It works good for flat surfaces but might not be so good on a lot of ceilings. It's kind of a bitch to remove also so not sure if there would be a lot of interest in them but for ceilings like mine they seem to be holding well.

ummm those stink.. you should send them to me asap for disposal...!!! hehe j/k all I can say is awesome, I would love something like that! let me know when you make some for sale, I dont have a drop but they would make good wall art!

Those are wizard! I've never seen anything like that, but it looks really cool in your gameroom. I'm sure that you could get some buyers here if you started to sell them.

I agree with the Pac-Man idea, but also think those could look great painted with a black light paint so she shine with the lights out (either glow in the dark variety or to light-up when exposed to black light).

Glad to see you are jumping full force into the arcade scene Brian. Just curious, I haven't been on AA in awhile, are you selling some of your stuff to finance arcade purchases? Might have to go check the FS thread over there.....

Oh, and those look great. Toss out a price when you get a chance, those would look nice on a wall too.

Very cool! A pac-man, ghost, pellet setup on the ceiling would be awesome.
That was actually one of the first ones I made. I'll have to post some pics after work, I have them hanging over the Kareoke machine right now. I used some yellow material from a giant McDonalds arch we did years ago, I'll ask the boss if we have any left in the back somewhere.

Can you get some pics of those in regular light, and some of the colors? For $1 each I'm definitely interested. Could really give my bland room some bang. What you did with your room looks killer!!

STEP AWAY FROM THE ATARI.... Just messing with you ;) Good to see you again, we miss you around AA :) Yeah, I have always collected arcade games but I definetily have been hitting it hard these past few months...it's that damn "show your best lit arcade pics" topic, made me remember how bad I missed my basement/arcade pinball room. I don't think I have ever owned THIS many arcade games at once...thanks klov :) I mainly did pinballs the last 3 or 4 years but last winter a large pipe in my basement broke, no games were damaged but I sold everything out of frusteration and no storage/etc.. I put off the rebuild for a while. Joined up with klov a few months ago (had NO idea the forums were so active here, cool!) and have started rebuilding again. I'm about 40% there, shooting for having something presentable by summer :) Oh, if anyone wants a few of these invader things I was thinking $1 each plus EXACT shipping costs? I updated the first post with some info, if I get some hits I'll make a list of colors/etc.. Thanks!

Thanks for all the great comments guys, always nice to hear :)

Hey Wade, my work schedule is NUTS this week but I will definetily get you some better pics as soon as I can.
You might as well do something with all the overtime you're getting!
Ha... they look great... as does your game room.
You said it brother, my two "part time" jobs are BOTH giving me overtime, strange since winter is usually the slow season but I'll take it!
I'll take 32 of them. 4 colors/ 16 of each style. Then I can make 4 rows of 8. Seriously.
No problem, I'll get a list of what colors we have tomorrow. Thanks!
