Is there anyone out there with CNC files for arcade cabs..specifically a Dig Doug UR? I was wondering how much it would cost to get cab parts cut if I can provide the files. This is just for me and not for any sort of mass production.

Actual NC files tend to be fairly specific to the control and machine used, due to different machine sizes, orientations, conventions, capabilities, etc. The only machines that are relatively common enough to perhaps share files would be the ShopBot brand machines (.sbp files).

IMHO, it would be more generally universal to share CAD files (i.e. DXF) of the shapes involved. Granted, this would require a little more work for someone to actually cut it (still need to nest & toolpath) but that's a straightforward process.

All that said, I haven't seen much (any?) sharing of detailed 2D CAD files. It seems that those who take the time to make all the careful measurements required tend to hoard the resulting data instead of sharing it.

Yeah.. I was hoping..maybe someone who had them would share them. Hell I would consider buying the files and signing an agreement not to resell them.

I haven't copied one, and don't own it anymore. If you already have a cabinet, and it's a one off, i'd use a copying router bit, and just do it by hand.

yeah..but what if the side you need to copy is badly swollen..and missing chunks around the cp?

both sides knocked off? i had a quantum here like that.. when they swell, it generally the thickness.. you can get a cheap sheet of 1/2 and trace your old side to it, make corrections to it, and cut it out with a circular saw and a guide, and a jigsaw on the curves, and sand it out a bit to make a good template.

I don't trust my wood working skills.. so I am willing work with anyone who has already done the measurements on a cab thats 100% intact. I'll even sign a non-disclosure agreement if they want.

NDA? WTF are you talking about? That's giving in to the "hoard-the-shit-to-be-a-barrier-to-entry-for-others" mentality.

I'll measure up my DD UR, but *ONLY* on the condition that the resulting CAD file(s)/measurement/drawings are shared completely for free, via copyleft or Creative Commons, or something similar... RATHER than hoarded by a cabal of priests.

Awesome..and yeah I would gladly share the files.
