So, I got this Midway Clowns in a deal that's been sitting around for a long time.

I decided to see if the nasty old B&W monitor worked. The chassis looks like it was home to some critters a long time ago. Most of the caps have exploded out the top of the cans.

I tested it with just power first and it had the typical flash and center dot when I turned it off, so I decided to hook some signal to it. (The Clowns PCB is dead and I'm waiting on a new 8080 cpu). It just takes composite signal, so I got the output from a VCR and fed it into the monitor. It worked! Needs a cap kit, but wow... 1970's TV with nasty electronics... I thought it would be dead.

BTW, are the color strips complete? 4 of them? Blue, Green, Green, Orange.

Are all 3 the same width? I have a double wide green.

Maybe I'm missing a blue and orange on the top and bottom. Do you know how wide / tall each color band is?

They are all the same width and appear to be the width of each one of yours. The only thing they do is make the balloons appear to be different colors. One color for each row. Once you get your game up and running you'll be able to see what I am talking about.

Count me among those that are impressed with black and white arcade monitors. I have a 23 inch Motarola XM in my Night Driver. When I got it the chassis was very dirty and a few caps were broken open, just like the one mentioned here, and it worked. The game was from 1976 and had active tax stickers until 1996. I usually remove these, but this is a badge of honor. I gave it a cap kit...it helped it a bit, but wow. I have a feeling it would almost take a bullet and still work.
