Closest acquisition?

600 feet from my house, my Operation Wolf. Guy lives in a house at the end of my street and had it for 3 years before I found out...

Dragons Lair - Found on CraigsList. Guy lived about 1.5 hours away. Completely restored with limited edition disc and converter board to play Space Ace. He even let me make payments.

A free Street Fighter II cab. He lives (lived?) about 5 minutes from my place. He thought it was non-working. I brought it home, and after some minor diddling, it powered up. Sold it later for $250.

My first one: An empty Pole Position II cab. An op that worked across the freeway from me - less than 4 miles. $50. No boards, no monitor, no power supply. But I was in heaven. Found him on craigslist. Had I known then what I know now, I probably would have selected another cab, he had everything / a lot of empty cabs. I pretty much picked the PPII because the side art looked good, and it had a coin door.

Crazy Climber I believe was my closest pick up. Or maybe it was Star Wars.. Hm, Either way they're keepers! :)

A dedicated Dig Dug that was about 35-40 miles away that I won on ebay.I wish I would have found out about the seller earlier,as he said he used to have a ton of them and the Dig Dug was one of the last games he had left.

9 houses down a guy put out a chicago coin rifle gallery at a yard sale. It was not a keeper for me, but I passed it along to another collector.

The closest keeper(since sold) was dedicated mystic marathon. That was about 2 mi away.

then next closest keeper I got about 2 mi away. It was liberator. But that one gets an asterix.. I bought it from someone who got it from an atari employee and brokered it to me(never operated). So it probably came from farther away.. Also got black widow and gravitar from the same guy.

there are a few of us in the sacramento area who aren't too far apart, and we've done quite a few deals.

I have to say, I have had several dealings with joe (acejedi) who is getting hammered in another thread, and I consider him a good guy and a buddy.

Space Invaders and Zaxxon were found just down the street. I saw them there when the garage was open for quite a while. Soon after I bought my first game, I went over to talk to him. He also had a Robotron, but he won't get rid of that one. He just moved last week, which is kinda sad. It was nice having another game guy in the hood.

My Pong clone CT was in a bar 1/2 mile down the road from my house and my Asteroids UR was 10 minutes away. Other than my DK which was about 20 miles east, the rest of my games are from out of state.

2 Games in my subdivision from different houses. One was an Asteroids and the other a sitdown Pole Position. Both working too. :)

I've had a few games brought to me. Does that count?

One of them was one exit up, about 3 mi driving, but less than a mile as the crow flies.

A girl I used to go to church with knew that I monkeyed with games and showed me her Jurassic Park and Pacman Plus. That's less than a mile. Somebody else got the pin and I reverted the non-working Pacman Plus board to a Ms Pac for just the cost of parts.

My Galaxian came from the 'antique mall' that's right at a mile away. $100!

My first cabinet, back in college my roommate and I decided we wanted to get a Galaga and started looking on CL, found one 1.5 miles away. Guy had a pretty big home arcade, really nice house. Ahh if only I knew then what I know now. I think we paid $650 for it and it was in a converted Galaxian cabinet with no side art or bezel, what a rip off.

Across the street from my house.
A neighbor had put out a Donkey Kong Junior on a Thursday night for bulk trash pick up. The following Thursday there was an Asteroids. Needless to say I picked them up.

The Asteroids needed a board repair and works great. I'm in the process of a monitor rebuild for the DKJR (anybody close to Philly want to help a newbie with soldering?)

So my first two machines are linked to two of the most famous words on KLOV...
CLOSE and FREE!

-I've had 2 games delivered to my basement - Mario Bros WB & Vs. Ice Climber. They both came from a local buddy who has a big truck w/ a hydraulic lift gate that he runs his routed games around the city in.
-My free 25" Dynamo cut corner cab (which I'm putting a 450 in 1 into ) came from 5 blocks away to my west.
-My 48-1 Multicade (converted Pac Man) came from about 6 blocks away to my north

Other than that I've had to drive anywhere from about 1.5 to 2.5 hours in any direction to get my cabs.

I think I might win, my next door neighboor! Didn't want to take it when he moved, carried it over on a dolly right into my Garage. It was a DK Jr.
