Cloak & Dagger Restoration

On another note my Cloak & Dagger marquee arrived...it looks beautiful! I had Rich print it on glass......

Almost finished now....

Install glass bezel
Finish re-wiring cabinet
get board running properly

That's all that's left to do....

Moving right along....I was wanting a LED type of fluorescent light...so I did a fun little mod...using a bulb socket and an 60W LED bulb....and its magnificent

and we have light...

Also was able to hook up the blinking LED cone buttons and added new bulbs in the coin door...also continued to clean up and re-wire the rats nest that was in the cabinet...

Also UPDATE: The pause issue we were having was due to a dip switch setting and now the game works perfectly....thank god I didn't have to mail the board out again....

All that is left now is painting the top marquee and glass bezel brackets black, finish re-wiring, await Bezel from Rich, print back door sheet and stickers, fix/replace speaker and possible add a small amp, and put a foam strip on back on control panel to protect glass...

Well this should be the last of these posts on this thread as I WIND DOWN THIS RESTORE.....

Originally I had painted the front of the Defender cabinet white before realizing that it needed to be Black...so noticing that I had some other things that needed a coat of Black...we taped it off and re-painted it along with the top marquee bracket and top bezel bracket...also re-painted some sides that had been scratched during the restoration.

Decided to do a health check of the C&D monitor tube.

*Step 1, hook up the BK 467 CRT Analyzer.

*Step 2, setup and test. Hmm--all 3 guns have emission on the low end of the scale. Maybe we can improve that through clean/balance/rejuvenation.

*Step 3, result--much better. All 3 now in the good range. Tracking and life tests are good too. Should look great!

Also went ahead and finished re-wiring cabinet...getting rid of all the hack jobs and soldering and placing sleeves on the wires properly.

Hooked up a new TEST switch...

Another issue I was having was the sound was extremely low and the jamma harness volume was all the way up....SO after searching the web we found this mod.....

http://arcadecontrols.com/BBBB/aab.html

so we went and purchased a set of amplified computer speakers (Inland Pro Sound 2000 at Fry's Electronics for $6.99) and needed to replace my speaker so while at fry's got a 6.5" 3-way 4 ohm speaker for $12.99/pair.

Here is that great link again on to how perform this....

Amp removed from Speaker....

Amp works perfectly and here it is mounted to the cabinet..

Was going to use the speakers but found out they are not Shielded, so I used the speaker out of another Defender project I had...

So the only thing left is to get the tinted glass bezel cut and install a cam lock for my coin door, and add little tid bits like a back door sheet I got from D.REED and some Atari badges for the back of my cabinet....so my next post will be those things added and the final pics of the FULLY restored game...

I am ready to finish this restore up even though it has been fun....AND yes I will be taking this baby to Southern Fried Gaming Convention if you guys want to play it and see it in person....

Lookin good!

The amp on the JAMMA adapter should be sufficient to drive a regular speaker. It's a TDA2002-based amp, which is the same that is used on Atari AR's.

I wonder if there's something wrong with the adapter, or if your board is putting out a weak signal for some reason.
