Well, since this thread got bumped.. Last week I picked up the aformentioned Rush 2049 upright from the dudes who bought it. Along with the game, they gave me a Nieman tri-sync 27" flat screen monitor (that they had in a Golden Tee) with a chassis that had been repaired, and asked me to mate the two and get it working.
So after fabricating a harness that would accept the Nieman computer terminal and the games' 6 pin connector, I was in business - well sorta, as about 45 minutes into testing the HD starting clicking and the audio quit. Tried to reboot it and it started coming up with various "block" errors. - Ordered a new HD off epay - $35.00
Well got the HD today, installed it and played about 2 hours of racing with nary a hiccup. I still need to get the marquee working and re connect some t-molding on the bottom of the cab.
This is the first time I have played a 2049 upright. And having logged many, many miles on the sit-down version, I will say that the lack of "brakes" on the upright is depressing. There are a couple tracks that you must have brakes to post a proper time. Sure you can downshift into 2nd and slow the car down, but it is not the same.
But at the end of the day, it is entertaining - which is why I will only have it temporarily, probably til the end of the month, then it will go on route.
