I guess this question goes for any cab with stenciled side art... but my Space Encounters is incredibly dirty and I want to clean it up.

What should I use that will definitely NOT damage the painted artwork?

Generally I use a Magic Eraser and Simple Green for cleaning just about everything -- would that be ok in this case? I just don't want to take off any paint or smear it.

Subscribing. I have the same machine and it needs a good cleaning.

Ive had pretty good luck with simple green.. just water it down pretty good, dont use it straight.

+1

I've been using it full strength and in the last 2 nights I've taken the finish/patina off some metal marquee brackets and original buttons.

I'm thinking of saving diluted simple green for soaking greasy parts that aren't seen. But maybe if it's dilute enough it'll be OK for the kind of cleaning I was doing. I'm also considering switching to just dish soap and water. Not sure yet, I'm stuff fuming over the damage.

Oh and I'd reconsider the magic eraser. I've not cleaned a stenciled cab but I know it'll damage side art. Maybe your paint is nice and thick and can take it but the only thing I'll clean with a magic eraser is a CPO.

Start with soapy water. Simple green will take off paint.

If you need to scrub it use Naptha and a Magic Eraser and scrub lightly.

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like a good idea to start out with soapy water and see what kind of difference it makes before moving on to any harsher cleaning products.
