What's the best way to clean up oxidized and generally corroded metal in games, such as in PCB cages and such? I was thinking of using Scotchguard pads and Brasso. Also for galvanized metal that are beyond simple cleaning is there some kind of "galvanized" paint to use?

A wire brush attachment on a drill works pretty well. Sometimes it takes a while if you are using a small head. Just wear eye protection, because once that brush gets worn in, bristles will start flying off. I have pulled many bristles out of my forehead before. I could only imagine how many I could have had flying towards my eyes.

I use a product called "Evapo Rust", it works really well. Let the part soak in it for a couple hours or overnight and it comes out perfectly shiny, rust free metal.

You know what works good on small parts is simple white vinegar with a teaspoon of disolved salt, I tried soaking some semi-corroded fuse holders of my Turbo mini in it overnight and they came out pretty good.

i use this stuff:

its not good for restoring to original, just great at stopping the rust/oxidation. wait 30 minutes and paint and its good forever, almost.

kind of expensive at 28 bucks a gallon. we use to use it on dumpsters with great results.

Funny this came up because I just cleaned my mcr3 power supply board tonight. My sonic care toothbrush and a water vineger mixture did pretty well.

#000 steel wool and elbow grease (if the rust isn't TOO bad).

I stopped using a wire wheel because it typically takes off the rust and any plating/galvanized coating (which means it will just rust again super fast).

EDIT: Just occurred to me that OP probably did not mean the frame. Ignore.
