So I have a 4900 I am about to start a cap kit on. Got it out, discharged and ready to go. But the thing is just gross. Black dust everywhere. My guess is years and years of cigarette smoke and ash.

Anyway, what is the best way to go about cleaning this? Just blow it with a compressor and do what I can from there with a soft bristle brush?

Thanks

Ed

Just found the thread about simple green and a garden hose. Sounds like fun :)

Please delete this thread, sorry about not searching first.

make damn sure that you let that chassis dry out for a couple of days or so. I have repaired quite a few of those simple green and a garden hose chassis.

Yeah, I let it sit out in the AZ sun for a day. I also hit with the shop vac on blow for a little while to make sure I got the big puddles moving.

I'm not planning on plugging it in for at least a week. Seems like all the copper wire on the neck is where a lot of the water can stay if you are not careful.

Before I plug it in I am going to hit it all with the shop vac again just to make sure I don't feel any spray or anything.

thanks for the tips.
