My wife's uncle just picked up a Hollywood Heat pinball machine and bought some Wildcat 125 to clean the playfield becuase that is what the manual recommended. I told him not to use it because it contains solvents and to use Novus 2 which I use on my Judge Dredd. I know Hollywood Heat is a mid 80's game and I assume the playfield has mylar on it which wildcat 25 will damage. Am I right on that?

It's better to use Novus 2 and be on the safe side than take a chance with Wildcat and have it lift your Mylar.

I have good luck with the Miracle Cleaning Sponge. It removes years of grit and grime. Make sure to use a little water with it. Clean the playfield with a nonabrasive household cleaner (non-chlorine) to get first layer of dirt off. Then slowly work the playfield with the sponge. Be very gentle and don't over clean any one spot as it will rub through the playfield finish. ***NOTE OF CAUTION*** the sponge is the same as using a very high numbered sandpaper so be careful an don't over use it. I recently bought several pins that had been in storage in a basement for about 20 years. They were so dirty and molded that they required extensive cleaning just to start repairing. The playfields were extremely grimy from storage and all the time they were on route. Not only did the sponge make them look great but extremely smooth and fast. Don't use the sponge on printed mylar as it will remove the printing quickly. Those dirty, molded pins are now some of the highlights of my collection and others.
