I'm working on an EM pinball and it had an animal using it for a home at one time. With the newer machines (plastic covered wiring) I just pull and wash the harnesses, but on this EM it has cloth covered wiring.

I have already pulled the bottom board that the parts and wiring mount on and cleaned it. The parts can be pulled individually, disassembled, and then cleaned, but I'm not sure how to deal with the wiring.

Can this cloth covered wiring be cleaned? If so, what is the best way to do it?

Thanks,

- JM

I use a small 1" bristled paint brush and an air compressor.

Can any chemicals be used to clean the funk off of it in case the amimal got it too? I'm going to try to get the two large connectors into a bucket with some detergent, I know they got hit.

Then I'll dry them with a hair drier in addition to the sun drying they'll get today (mid 70's and finally not raining).

I wonder if you could steam clean it?

Not sure about steam cleaning, but I did wash it just like I do the regular plastic harnesses and it worked okay. I only did the ends of the harness where I knew the critter sprayed it, which was fortunately not near any of the mechanical stuff.

Took a hair-dryer to it after scrubbing and it dried out fairly quickly. It took longer than the plastic wiring, but not by too much.

i know a long time operator/seller who puts the entire harness in the dishwasher, says he has never has a problem and they come out real nice
