I've got myself a couple of dirty PCBs, a sega JVS IO and a metal case Naomi.

What are the best ways of cleaning absolute dirt off of these things? can I run the IO through the dishwasher (I know you can do that to MVS boards).

I blow off the loose dirt/dust with compressed air. I've used the dishwasher method too and for really dirty pcb's you can't go wrong with the Simple Green and garden hose like GoneMad said.

yeah their just metal and plastic.. the labels might get ruined.. you let them dry or blow them dry with compressed air..just make sure they are completly dry ... just dont plug them in wet!!.. but other then that water dont hurt them..

What about wires and stuff? And do you remove all chips before getting it wet?

Another popular method is washdown + oven at 180 degrees for a few minutes... just don't leave it in there too long.

:)

Dishwasher + 175 degree oven is my method too. I'll preheat the oven to 175, shut it off, then place the clean (wet) board in there, with the door open. As the oven cools down, the board dries off.

I let the board sit for a few days, then it's good to go.

Good way to do the oven... that way you can't "forget" and end up cookin' your board.
