Posted in the restoration area but no replies. So let's try it here.

I picked up a midway burgertime last week!

Now I want to know a few things:

What's best to clean the stencil side art? Is magic eraser safe?

How can I help protect the side art? Car wax? Anything like that?

How can I safely remove some overspray without ruining the stencil below it? The kick panel stencil is in good shape but there is a little amount of black overspray on Peter peppers right hand (left side of the stencil).

Thanks guys.

Most stencilled cabs clean decent with polishing compound and a gentle hand with a foam pad. Ms pac man, burgertime and pac man are exceptions because the black is silkscreened (the other colors are painted) and pretty much any abrasive no matter how fine will damage it. Mr Clean erasers work OK if you moisten with alcohol and use zero pressure in a circular motion but if you put any pressure you will cause damage and remove paint.

As for protection, well, its' not going back into the public anytime soon so really it's kinda not necessary unless you plan on beating it up after you clean it. It made it 30 years in the wild after all :)

Thanks for all the info guys. Glad I asked before I just started wiping it down. I'll get it clean this week and post some pics.
