Claw machine "coin switch stuck" error code

Thanks Dogcow. So to be clear, black lead on the left arrow in your pic and the red lead to the right arrow? I should have some time to troubleshoot tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get this all nailed down.

well youre measuring dc voltage so if you get it backwards it will just show negative
on the dmm as long as u get 5.25 ur good.

Well, I tried a couple of different power supplies, checked the voltage at the IC per Dogcow, and also tried snipping the coin switch wire near the edge connector. No luck.

So I took the board out to see if I could ask someone to test it for me, and what do I see on the backside edge connector? On the far left where 12V is it looks to be burned up or was burned up and fixed at some point. :( The 2-3 pins on the far right also look a little f'd up.

Anyone know someone who can test/fix these boards?

those edge connectors are a big problem. You can send the board to
"coast to coast" entertainment for repair

I just spoke with Coast to Coast, and the repair is going to run about $180. Man, that sucks. Now I'm torn about whether I should just bite the bullet and buy the Jernie replacement board. Seems like total overkill for home use, but I would imagine much more reliable.

he only has a few left, to be honest there are definitely some bugs with that board
but not any u would encounter for home use. i would keep an eye out for another unit
those cranes are around for cheap all the time.

One of those boards you were selling a month or so ago would come in handy right about now. :)

To end the loop on this one....I found a cheap, working board on ebay and picked it up. Sure enough, the game works fine. All that wiring and voltage troubleshooting for nothing. At least I know the in's and out's of this board pretty well now. :D

Thanks again for everyone's help on this. Very much appreciated.

hey man, if you ever run across another one, or this one dies later on down the road, youll know what to look for. Glad you got it all fixed up.. I wonder what went bad on the board or if the connector was just crappy and that was your issue...

Did you replace or clean the couple of pins in the edge connector that burnt the pcb??? If not, you might want to do that otherwise youll be in the same boat with this boardset a little bit later on down the line.

OR just leave it alone till it burns up, and do the "pole position mod" where you take a molex connector, and solder a wires on the boardset, through the molex, to the harness of the game and viola, no more edge connector burningg...
